slo87 While out on one of my "midnight mud runs" I was about 2~3 miles off of the main DIRT roads I found a what appeared to be a mint condition Subaru Baja. It was yellow and appeared fully detailed and waxed as if it showed up out of a showroom only problem was it had no wheels or tires on it. The next morning I went back out there and it was gone. No tire ruts except mine like it was placed there and removed with a helicopter. The damn car/truck thing had keys in it even. Creeped me out.

I also came across a totally toasted car out on some hunting land I used to rent seasonally from a guy up north. I had this weird feeling to put a stand on a tree about 100 yards away later that season deer were oddly attracted to the burned heap. I ended up getting 4 deer off that car I saw a lot more and fawns liked the car more than older deer that's why I just watched more than I shot. It would have been a beautiful sight if not for the burned scrap heap. Creepy but beautiful. It's still there but I can't get back in touch with the land owner anymore to hunt it again.

deathdealer687 Found something the other night kinda funny, but not even close to scary. I had just installed some lights on my front bumper and I was having difficulties aiming them at home so I drove out to the local ORV park. The area I live in is considered desert so our ORV park is 500+ acres of sand dunes and I live about 5 minutes away from it. I pull into the park and see a reflection way out in the distance off my lights. I flip on the new lights and can see movement around the reflection. I grab the binoculars and look and see a rusty old Cadillac with a young couple (probably college kids) going at it like the world is going to end tomorrow. I remember being that age and decide to leave them alone. I pull further in and go off in another direction. After playing around and adjusting the lights for about an hour, I decide to head home and see the Cadi, but no teens. I approach it and find that it is buried up to the center of each wheel in the sand and there is nobody in sight. I head out, figuring that maybe they decided to walk home and come across the couple, going at it again on the side of the road. I pulled over and offered to help pull them out but they told me they were fine and that help was on the way. Kids these days, they never even slowed down while I was offering to help.

JoeFlores I have a few stories to tell, none to do with wheeling but some with exploring.

My dad passed away from stage 4 esophageal cancer on March 28th of this year after fighting for around 4 years. As some backstory, my mom claims she's always been sensitive to "spirits", and has attracted them her whole life. Around the time my dad got sick, I was in 8th grade, my grandma (dads mom) lived with us because she was scared about his recent diagnosis and wanted to live here. She stayed for about 6 months and throughout that time she woke me up several times claiming to see a boy around my age or a little younger at the time, walking around upstairs, and peeking around corners at her. Fast forward about a year. My other grandma (moms mom) was having a hard time and my mom let her live with us for a couple months. Throughout this time the same experiences happened to her, she even went as far to say that she was honestly scared to live in the house. The boy she said was still about my age, and was seen walking by at night through our upstairs living room.
Throughout this whole time period my mom would tell me every time something would happen, she would wake up and see someone in her room walking out, or see someone out of the corner of her eye, and they all gave the same description, he was about my age, with dark features. About a year and a half ago my mothers Aunt and her husband came to stay with us because they traveled down here for thanksgiving and we were having the get together that year. They stayed with us and took my room for the night. The next morning the first thing she told us was that when she used the bathroom during the night, a boy a little younger than me was standing in the living room across the open door to my room. She said she looked at him and got a really mellow vibe and not an evil one, she said she looked away for a second and he was gone. The features couldn't be made out but the description everyone else had given was the same. About a year ago, my dad was very sick. He had lost a lot of weight and couldn't really walk that well. I was sitting in his room talking to him and watching tv when I got a really uneasy feeling, I felt the hair on my neck stand up and I looked in the doorway and saw someone a little shorter than me peeking around the corner, only seeing fingertips grasping the door frame and the top part of his head starting where his eyes would be. When i saw him I got kinda startled and jumped and ran over to the door and looked around and ran into the living room and looked around more. Me and my dad were the only ones in the house. I didn't say a word when I jumped up and ran over there and my dad was kinda iffy about the whole thing and asked me what happened so I told him when I came back. He was kind of startled but not really scared. The last experience came when my dad was really sick. About a week or so before he passed he was already in a coma state because of the metastasis of the cancer to his brain. There were family members coming to my house everyday to see him and to say things they wanted to tell him. It was about 9 at night and my moms aunt was here, and one of my moms cousins came through the door. My great aunt asked her about 5 minutes later "who's the boy you brought over here?" And she told her how he was behind her when she walked through the door but went off somewhere. My moms cousin told her she didn't bring anyone and didn't know what she was talking about. She had the same description, it was a boy who was about 13 years old, a little shorter than me, but you couldn't make out the features because it was dark.

Since my dad has passed, we haven't seen anything, or heard anything like the things that happened when he was sick. I like to think that was his guardian angel.

THIS is creepy, in that "real life" way that really DOES make you wonder what happened to the lady.....

Scebs I was reading through these again and remembered one thing that happened to me a while back. My grandfather died of heat stroke back in 2003 right before Christmas. My family has a Sunday tradition of going out to breakfast after church. A few weeks after he died, we were sitting in a small cafe after church. My family was talking but I was zoned out, thinking about my grandfather. I saw someone walking towards us and looked up and it was my grandfather, dress in his formal Army suit that he was buried in. He just winked and smiled at me and, as he walked by, patted me on the shoulder. It was at that moment when I got this feeling that he really was in a better place. Nobody else in my family saw this happen. This is the first time I've ever talked about it but there is no doubt in my mind that his spirit came back to comfort me.

Scythian I started reading this thread about a week ago one night, got two or three pages in and felt a strong urge to stop reading, said a prayer for protection and won't read anymore. You know, the exorcist is a true story, only it was a boy and not a girl, and they were playing with a Ouija board when the boy became possessed. I'm a Christian but not a Catholic but what I've read on the subject convinces me it is indeed true. I always feel like dabbling in this kind of stuff can be dangerous, even reading about it.

For those that can read this stuff and not be in fear have at it, but me, frankly, it scares the hell out of me and I fear somehow inviting evil in. Now, back to your Halloween stories. I need to go watch a sponge bob episode to shake this off ...

One night on patrol about 10yrs ago, we got a "request an officer call" at about 1am. the address was spurgeon hollow (we say hollar). No specifics on the call. It was snowing and we were in a 4x4 army blazer. The road was snow covered with new snow. Ours was the only tracks being made. All of a sudden, we saw more tracks. sorta narrow like an atv, but they came out of nowhere. We rode on up looking for the box number when we noticed that the tracks were gone and that is when we saw a young girl walking. She was wearing a dress like a prom dress, but it was dirty and appeared to be "vintage". We stopped to see if she needed help thinking she may have called for us, but she did not answer. She stopped and pointed to her right. We looked and did not see anything right away. We got the big mag lights out and we saw something reflecting our light. We looked back to see her and she was gone. At the time, we did not think to look for foot prints. That is when I heard what I thought was a baby cry toward the direction of the reflection. Now I had heard stories of a bad motorcycle wreck from back in the 50's around here, but no substantial facts. We went toward the reflection and saw what looked like and old headlight lying under some snow and leaves. I tried to pick it up. it was attached to a frame... Motor cycle frame. This had been there a while. I scratched around to see if anything else was there. I found a tag for the bike that was dated 1967 from California. My partner got to looking for the girl and she was gone. No footprints but ours.
Now I've been up this road several times and never even thought about it. But I got to asking one of the local boys in the Hollar about it a few weeks later. He said that one of the local girls had meet up with a hippie from Cali and tried to elope. His bike had a side cart on it. Her dad was trying to stop them by shooting at them. The family had figured that they just got away. But since we found the bike, he said I guess they didn't... And that is all he said. I have been back several times hoping to possibly find some remains. But nothing. Maybe they did get away... But I can't explain the girl...

notdeankane Two stories: one weird, one just odd.

I grew up in rural central PA...a small town with lots of cornfields around. As kids, my friends and I would play in the cornfields. We hadn't heard of crop circles back then...but one day we were running between the rows, playing Hide and Seek or 'War' or whatever it was that 12 year old kids play, and we came into a large opening in the middle of the field. It was perfectly circular, and the corn stalks, which were at least six feet high, were all broken over a couple inches from the ground, laying in the same direction and blackened. The circle must have been about 30' in diameter. We puzzled over this for a while, then moved along down a row and came up on another, about twenty feet away. This one was a little smaller...maybe 20' in dia. Off of this one was yet another, about 10' in diameter. All the same with the corn laid over and blackened. We weren't more than fifty or a hundred yards from the edge of our neighborhood, but the spot was on the side of a slight down-slope so that it wasn't visible from the houses.

We left the cornfield and went and told one of my friend's father about what we saw. He said that bears will trample down a bed in corn fields and that is what we probably saw. It wasn't a satisfying explanation, but we left it at that. To this day (thirty some years later) I still wonder what exactly it was...?

The other story was actually not paranormal, but weird. When I was in the USMC and stationed at the Mountain Warfare Training Center in CA, a buddy and I went up Sonora Pass road a couple weeks before it was reopened for the spring...we were trying to get up to Leavitt Lake in my friend's old 'box' Bronco. Just before the turn off, down the hill a Toyota Wagon pulling a camper comes rolling down, brakes smoking...it manages to stop ahead of us and this guy gets out and waves us over. We walk over and are stunned by a whole bunch of things that were completely out of place.....first an foremost, that the small car was towing a camper. Second that they were coming down hill from the pass which was closed and still snowed up....a good portion of that road is an 8% grade with some spots hitting 26%. Third that the hitch was a bumper type hitch chained to the stock bumper!. Fourth that the trailer's hitch was off the ball and the trailer was being pulled by the chains.....
We pointed that out and the guy said it had been like that for a while. We hefted the hitch up and dropped it back in the hitch ball for him, and realized that there was no latch...and there was shredded duct tape on the hitch!

That is when the wife climbed out of the car and walked back to see what we were doing....we look up and see that the 'wife' was another man in a dress, long overcoat, full make up, and a pillbox hat!

After we gave them tips about not riding the brakes on the grade, put it in low gear, get the damn hitch fixed, etc...they continued on their way down. We just stood there speechless for a few minutes trying to get our heads around what we just saw....then headed on back down, caught up with them and followed them until they hit the more level part of the road.

Scebs Just finished reading this whole thread (started around 11:30 last night) and geez. It really makes me think about strange things that have happened in my life. If Bangingears wrote a book I'd definitely buy it. Bump for more of these great experiences?

I have a lot of "Holy sh*t!" moments while wheeling but those are usually just because of my driving

BigManAndy Been a long time since anything out of the ordinary has happened until today. Little back stock my Grandma had a stroke over the summer, a very minor one which she has recovered from very well but she needs a cane to walk and can't do stairs so she can't get into her basement. A bunch of the family went over there tonight to help paint. Me, my folks, 2 aunts and 2 cousins. We're all in the basement painting the concrete blocks of the foundation since it's a completely unfinished basement, and just cleaning up the place. Since the family is mostly female the girls were doing the usual gossiping and general girl talk so I was minding my own business when out of the blue a voice whispered in my ear. All I could make out was "I can't........" the rest was jibberish I couldn't make out. Everyone else was about 6 feet from me lolly gagging and the voice sounded like it was right over my shoulder on my left but no one was near me on that side. It sent instant chills across my body as I whipped around to see if I could find a source but everyone else was deep in conversation not involved with me. I've heard sounds and voices before, never in that house, and none ever sounded that close and direct to me like this.

thewampus97tj Camping in east TN in the winter time my buddy and I decided it was a good idea to camp on top of the mountain in the winter time. We were near an old fire tower where some locals go to drink beer and raise hell. We decided to scare them and I let out this deep roar similar to a bear... They get quite and take off. I would say it was a bear that we called in on us but we didn't hang out long enough to find out. Airstreamer67 My eerie moment was deep in the woods. It was a very foggy morning, one of those days that driving on the highway was dangerous.

Anyway, I made it to a spot I had never been before. It looked like a good place for game.

I got out of the Jeep and was slowly stalking down an animal trail when through the fog I saw what looked like a Cross! This stopped me in my tracks, and I kept staring at this thing, wondering if it was just a combination of brush that looked like a manmade object through the fog.

After a couple of moments, I moved closer and slowly realized it was manmade. But here in the middle of a forest!!??

When I got up to the cross, it had a guy's name written on it, along with a date which was a year or so in the past. Kind of like those highway markers where people were killed in accidents.

My guess is that the poor bloke was killed on the site, probably in a deer-hunting accident.

I backed out of there and returned to my Jeep and had a cup of coffee.

deathdealer687 I was out wheeling with a friend and he always would set his wallet wedged between the dash and windshield. Normally it would stay put but this time it flew out and went off the trail. We pulled over and went looking for the wallet. Down about 20 feet below us, under a tree we were slightly above, there was a very wrecked vehicle. It was so crumpled that the only thing that gave us a clue to what kind it was was the J and e from the broken Jeep logo on the back of it. The wallet was sitting on top of it. When he grabbed the wallet, we both heard someone say "Can you help me?" There was nobody around. We searched for about an hour for someone. Once we got cell service, we called the police and reported the vehicle and found out that about 15 years earlier, someone had rolled a Cherokee off that trail and their body wasn't found for 3 days. We haven't been back since.
