I was driving down a trail. Stopped to do some walking along a creek. Got 100 feet (maybe) and saw this, in the creek staring at me. Creepy. Remember the story I posted about the graveyard? This creek was right next to it.
I did some research, and I know exactly what kind of animal it is. German Shepherd

Four of us just went camping/Jeeping for a weekend in Ballarat, near Death Valley Nat'l Park. Lots of great canyons, miles of technical riding. Just had a blast. Ballarat has an old miner's cemetery; real graves, not the Knott's Berry Farm hearbeat under your feet type of graveyard. We take one of the guys up at night, becasue that's just when you have to visit a graveyard, right? The rest of us have been there before, no big deal. The "new" guy is videoing the cemetery and we're all on there making comments or acting like fools, nuthin' new. We hang out for a bit and go back to camp.
His iphone is connected to a wireles bluetooth speaker, and as he starts to look at the video the audio overrides the music. Okay, there is a little narrative from me and a couple of minutes of dialogue then, all of a sudden, his video goes to black and what sounds like a unintelligible heavily slowed down audio track, takes the place of the audio conversation we were having in the graveyard. His battery was up and we were all watching at one point or another. No way he could have rigged the thing even if he knew how. Now all four of us are retired cops from a busy area near L.A. There isn't much we haven't seen or done and we DO NOT get spooked. This made the hair on our necks stand up and we all all got goose bumps. Spooky to say the least.
He was going to get the phone looked at to get some answers, but it worked fine before and after, only the footage in the cemetery was affected. Very bizarre.

|johnwj||This one may not involve a trail, but it involves the same friend and the same zj. We used to go out and try to find "haunted" places around town. So one night we go out to this bridge that is supposed to be haunted and all this stuff. Well we get up there and of course, see nothing, so we are heading back down the road and all of a sudden his jeep cuts off completely. There has been nothing wrong with his jeep since he got it and no reason for it to have any kind of electrical issues. Of course, he panics again, pulls over, stops the jeep, and then it cranks like nothing ever happened.|

This one may be a bit long so bear with me.
In college, we took my friends stock ZJ out on a trail. It's a real simple, basic trail that could be driven in a Subaru or something similar. Just a nice place to get out off the road and into the woods. It was night time and an unplanned trip, just decided to go on the way back from Wal-Mart. His ZJ had some fairly bald tires on it but traction turned out to not be the issue.
We get out to one spot where we usually turn around and start to head back, so we do. On the way back, he decides to hit a muddy area kind of hard. All of a sudden, he isn't moving anymore, tires are just spinning. The mud isn't deep or anything, so we get out to look and he has a flat on the rear pass. side. And of course, he doesn't have a spare.
Still being really new to off roading, etc... we had no idea/weren't thinking about bolt patterns and things. All we knew was that he had a grand cherokee and I had a Wrangler, so we decided if we could get to my jeep, we could use my spare tire to get him out and off the trail. He is sitting in the middle of the trail at like 8 or 9 at night.
We manage to find a cell signal and call my roommate who has a chevy pickup to come pick us up.
While we are waiting for him, we hear a vehicle coming up on us. Not really expecting to see anyone out this late, get kind of worried for a minute. Then we see the headlights coming around the corner. Turns out there is another jeep on the trail heading towards us. They get closer and slow down when they get near us. Hoping they would stop and help, they just continue to drive by. They had the top and doors off and we could see it was a middle aged lady and white guy, only the white guy is wearing a full Indian get up, headdress with feathers and all, with a budweiser tall boy can in his hand. They drive on by, look at us and leave, without saying a word.
My roommate comes and picks us up, we get my jeep and head back to get the tire on the ZJ. Not really strange, but funny at the time, my friend has real bad anxiety about EVERYTHING. We were riding in the back of my roommates truck as he had brought the guy from next door with him and my friend is super stressed out about the whole situation, so he asks the guy from next door for a cigarette. He gives him one and starts to smoke it. Then the guy tells him when we get back to the campus to get my jeep, that he had laced those cigarettes with acid. That set my friend off real bad and he started panicking.
Anyway, we make it back to the jeep and find it still in one piece, thankfully. Although I noticed something strange on the back window. On the rear window above the wheel, someone had wrote "only in a jeep" in the mud. We had put the Indian and his jeep out of our minds by this point and were just ready to get back. Change the tire and get rolling, well as we are leaving, I see headlights coming up the trail. They pull off to the side and let us pass, and as we do, I see its the same jeep with the Indian dressed dude from before, only this time he is driving. Of course, my friend panicked even more and started hauling ass out of the trail...to this day, I'm not sure if the Indian dude circled back and wrote on the window, but this is a one way in/out trail and we never saw him when we left the first time.

So back when I had my 05 grand Cherokee, I got the great idea of taking it out to get dirty (yup I even took my grand Cherokee out...don't judge me. I never did trails, just bad roads, ya know?). Needless to say I got stuck (good thing I just stayed on bad roads). By this point it was dark and of course I was the only one there. Hiking out there is this little cemetery (I was in the Charles c deam wilderness just south of lake Monroe. Eastern most part of the park, Robertson cemetery). By the time I was passing this cemetery it was pitch dark. I noticed a small light dangling, moving in the wind over one of the grave stones. I stopped and watched, thinking I must be crazy. But by Joe, it was real. Freaked me out so much...let's just say I hiked an extra half mile or so to avoid walking by that cemetery. Got the GC out a little later that night.
That's right by one of my fav camping spots, so of course I was back within a week. Turns out it was just a solar light hanging above a tombstone. Someone's family member put it there. Still there today actually. Still tell that story by the campfire, just before we go on a night hike....right past the cemetery. Of course when I'm telling it fireside, I don't tell them what it is. Just that its a light in a cemetery in the middle of the wilderness.

I used to talk in my sleep, and my wife says I still do sometimes. I also have had reoccurring dreams since I was a young child. When I fall into one of these dreams I realize at some point in the dream, that I'm dreaming, and then it's like deja vu because I know what going to happen next in the dream. At some point I get to where I woke up last in the dream, and I go a bit further than last time, and then I wake up again. I've had the same dream since 2nd grade over and over, maybe once every two years if that, but I remember it every time.
My daughter just turned 20 this year and was diagnosed with narcolepsy. I don't have enough insurance to run the same tests but from what we found out with her, I probably have it and so does my son. He's starting to get some testing going though. Now I wonder how often creepy things I hear or see (or think I see) is me in a dream-state or narcoleptic pattern. Spooky to me.
So after saying this, here's a bit of spookiness from over the years.
I like driving, and my friends and I used to drive in bad weather to get some scary kicks so my friend and I decided one foggy night to drive a bit into the country. We're still on paved roads, but they are mostly maintained by the land owners in the area, so there are some that have bridges that have been washed out, and the road just has a random sign in the middle stating the bridge is out ahead. During the day we often explored these areas, so we knew how some roads were set up - but still spooky at night in the fog. We were driving down one of these roads, getting close to the bridge out area, and we could see a log blocking the road with the sign on it. As we chuckled and were turning around I felt eyes on us though. In my head I'm seeing a old farmer with a hoe in his hand and blue overalls on, a straw hat, and thin frame. He's off on the edge of the fog shaking the hoe in our direction and mumbling. I see him for a brief moment and then he's gone, but my friend didn't see him at all.
In the same area I've had other feelings as I've driven through, mostly at night, and maybe it's my imagination too.

|Irish-n-Zwack||My youngest son sleep walks, talks in intelligible sentences and holds conversations, and paints or draws in his sleep, and he can often be found in his bed, sitting up, sound asleep. Uber creepy :-).. He got to where he would put up an easel with brushes, paints and pencils next to his bed, and see what he woke up to. Some seriously odd pix, sometimes! LOL! He used to post them on FB. Not sure how accurate this is nowadays, since he no longer lives at home, but a few years ago, when he came home to live for a year or so, it was certainly true. We always had to ask him what he remembered of any conversations we'd had with him from the night before. More than half of the time, it turns out he was talking to us while sleeping. I hope that boy never decides to take Ambien!|

The whole sleep paralysis thing happened to me when I used to live alone in my condo but between 1994 and 1999...this happened to me a bunch of times... I never told anyone in fear of being ridiculed LOL!
In my case the first few times I was terrified, I heard a humming sound then felt a pressure holding me down to my bed, I rememeber trying to yell and trying to muster up the strength to break an arm free or a leg just to move with no luck...it happened over 5-10 times thru the course of 5 years...after a while I knew it was sleep paralysis and how it was going to happen and I just would say to myself just go to sleep who cares and I didnt try to fight it....and it hasnt happend since. It was initially terrifying though!

I'm just gonna lay this here......
2013 my cousin was here at my house watching the Bama/auburn game halftime rolled up and we all wanted rotel dip so he went to the store and got the fixings he didn't come back. We went down the road looking for him and found him at a wreck scene he found. 3 children and a mama dead. Not even a skidmark no other cars involved just them and an oak tree.

I camping in Joshua Tree National Park with about 8 other friends. We had a pretty good day hitting the trails and climbing boulders. Night time rolled around and we were cooking food, drinking a beer or two, and enjoying the pitch black night. Our camping area was pretty much empty and quiet, except for a couple of old people and someone taking exposure photos of the stars.
We had decided to venture out and explore the boulder areas in the pitch black night. All of us either had flash lights or head lamps. We split into two groups, one group of five in front, and the other group of four in back (which included me). We were separated by about 50 feet, and generally on the same trajectory outwards. As we were hiking outwards, someone in the group in front of us kept shining their headlamp back at us, and even going behind us and shining their headlamp. The headlamp was about 50' away, so we couldn't see who was doing it. I yelled to them about it, and asked what they were doing. At this point we were pretty close to a mile out, with absolutely no one around.
Turns out, it wasn't any of them messing with us. They thought that we were messing with them! We didn't believe them at first, but we grouped together as a whole, and the headlamp kept flashing at us. They were probably 50 to 100 feet away, and were moving all over the place pretty quickly. The flashes would happen every 30 or so seconds to every 2 minutes. The thing is, when we turned our lights off, we couldn't see much of anything. So for someone to be going around turning on and off their headlights, it would be pretty challenging. The speed they moved at would be about the speed I could move during daylight, but I couldn't have done it at night.
We started yelling at the person, threatening them, etc. The light kept flashing, all around us. We started making our way back, and by the time we got to the camp site, we got yelled at by long exposure camera guy, because we had ruined his photo. I looked down and noticed his shins were covered in fresh blood, like he had slipped on some of the boulders or something.
The whole thing was really strange, none of us think it could have been the camera guy, because it would have been difficult for him to get in front of us. None of the other people at the camping site had the physical capability to get out like we did. The whole situation was so weird and unexplained.

|TJ Lyons||Another one... My later to be husband and I were on a side road of an untraveled back road, next to log landing, outside of my hometown, in his old Toyota Corolla. Pretty much the middle of nowhere. When we backed in we hit something, but who cared. Probably just a log under the 8 inches of fresh wet snow. A couple of hours later, we were jarred awake by auto lights trying to shine through the additional 2 inches of snow on the glass. It backed out and turned off it's lights. Oh great, someone else checking to see if we were dead. Happened all of the time. At least this time it had to be someone we knew that was probably doing the same thing. When we didn't recognize the truck, there's never strangers around here, we decided to head out. But we had ran over whatever we hit and it was hung under one back wheel of the car. He got out and pushed while I drove back over it. He jumped in yelling "GO, GO, Go!" After he caught his breath he said "I just got a bad feeling. Something is wrong". The truck was spinning when we went out of sight. I just laughed it off. You could see that the people in the truck had shot guns, but so does almost everybody here. A month later when the snow thawed, a man's body was found in that road, behind a log. Shot in the head, and dumped there. He owned the shut down strip job we were parked on. He owned property all over the country and traveled from one to another so much that no one had realized he was missing for weeks and it was reported in his home state, not ours. So nobody knew anything about it. I had to ask, "is he what was hung under our tire?" "I don't know, the snow was wet and stuck to it, it could have been anything. I just thought we needed to get the hell out of there away from that truck." He shivered and went back to eating.|

Nothing crazy, but recent.
I decided to go for a ride on an old county road that I hadn't been on in a very long time. There's a split, one way is bad on good days, and my preference. Once you get up on the ridge it's good solid woods rocks that were placed in there an eternity ago and pretty much flat to rolling. It runs through some old family farms that have grown up. It was my brother's favorite place to hunt when we were kids. Edible wild plants, volunteers from past gardens, berries, grapes, pears, and nuts to eat until the main course shows up. It looks just like it did 10 or 15 years ago, not really much change in the last 40 years. When I made it through to the woods, I felt like I should get out and explore. I stopped where the road met back up with itself, just a few yards before I topped over the point. While listening to some turkeys coming up on my left I walked up the road in front of my Jeep. I wanted to check out the point, just a sharp hump on top of the ridge, but it always had a beautiful view. I was standing in the road, still in the woods, not a single leaf disturbed, with a daisy between my feet, 100's of feet in the air, on a dirt ledge jutting 10-15ft out from the face of a mountaintop removal high wall. Talk about a dead end road!
