3278 I can't speak to the law, but I can tell you I've been running a year without doors [and thus without mirrors] and not once had a problem, but I drive very conservatively on-road. I can also tell you it's not as safe as driving with mirrors, and that it's, like, $30 to buy a mirror that attaches to the door mount. Definitely worth doing, IMO...even though I stupidly haven't.

Rebel_Ryders_Offroad I run doorless and mirror less all the time. My future brother in law is a genessee county sheriff. He looked at the law for me and it states that the driver has to have a clear view from his rear view mirror but states no where in the law about a side mirror. Unless you are in a 1/4 ton truck then you need one on the drivers side. The bigger the truck the more mirrors are needed as stated in the law. But call the state police just to make sure

computeruser You need a rear mirror mounted on the windshield and a side mirror on the driver's side of the vehicle. Otherwise you're free to use doors or not, as you see fit.

Lots of people drive w/o mirrors, just as lots of people speed or roll through yellow-turning-red lights. The fact they haven't been cited for it doesn't make it legal to do, however.

Run your two mirrors, it makes driving safer for you and those around you.

mac56 For the official answer I'd call the Michigan state police 269-683-4411. I think there is a o/s mirror controversy , but l see doorless jeeps driving around w/o mirrors all the time....
