if your running light trails you can get away with the 35 but i would go 4:10 in that scenario. if your looking to upgrade so you can run hard trails in the future or when you just plain feel like it i would go 44 at min. 4:56 with a auto and 4:88 if stick. IMO
I personally am going to upgrade to a 8.8 in the rear. keeping the 30 in front but going with upgrades to it. 4:56. I run mine on some hard trails. and want to run harder.

Just trying to weigh the upgraded 35 rear /30front
dana 44's front and back..
re gear of either is part of the plan either way.
I am only doing a little mud and muddy trail riding with some water on occasion.
fishiing for whether the 44 is really necessary if adding lockers to 33 in. 12.5 GY's ..
sorry for the confusion... lol... I am much more confused than I appear, even.

|Cons_Table||So what exactly is it that you are asking? Your title mentions swapping a D35 to a D44, and also doing a gear change...but your actual post is talking about a Super 35 kit with 4.56 gears and a D30 with 4.56 gears. Just trying to find out what exactly you are looking for an answer to|

decided to drive it for a few weeks first; see if it is good to go NT
the engine has 126K miles on it and I am kind of concerned by that fact though it seems OK. I may find I have to fix some things before I begin re gear and upgrading parts of the drive train, etc.

with a 99 tJ, what would be necessary to change the 35 to a dana 44 rear and gear chg
I have been about to click on the super 35 kit with 456 ratio gears, etc.
that is offered in the classifieds; it has matching 456 ratio d30 front.
rear has a locker in it.\
I was considering getting that whole arrangement and adding a locker to the front d30..
I only do mud, and a little crossing of downed trees, etc. I will not gas it on the take off on pavement.
I would appreciate comments on this modification.
