shadowrcker I live close to that and ive been down that trail many times before, not to bad of a trail. Rocky in spots and it can get muddy in the winter.

It leads to the old supposedly haunted Hanton City
(Hanton City, Rhode Island - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
Watch out for pedestrians, ive ran into many people in the summer walking the trail or going to see the remnants of the city.

*As far as legality goes:

The the trail you see on google earth is not Hanton City Road, its actually an easement used for a gas pipleline. According to the state of RI it is illegal to drive on.
The actual road itself is the thin clearing of trees that you can barely make out above the clearing you see on google earth.
In addition all of the trails branching off Hanton City Road are private property and also illegal to drive on.

I'm not trying to be a pain in the @$$ here but the State has the right to shut down the road and i rather not see a trail so close to my home shut down because of irresponsible roaders.

I'm attaching an image so its easier to see what im talking about.

All of this information can be found on the Smithfield RI website.

bbtj Check out these 2 links: ATV Trails, Motorcycle Trails, Motocross Tracks, California and http://www.offroadnorthamerica.com/login.asp. The first one is mainly for ATVs and bikes, but they do have some 4x4 parks listed.

Hanton City rd is close to rt295. Google the area and the map will show you the trail. Its a paper rd, a home was on it many years ago. Dirt and very rocky, see my post in the RI local thread.
