|mastrcruse||Same thing...went from the front passenger, left knee spot with a full sized radio. Ran behind the glovebox and down the right side of the jeep with the rest of the wiring. Followed the hinge, behind the black cover on the tailgate, throughout the tailgate and the rough the passenger side grommet. Looks super clean. I had to redo once because I forgot to ground the antenna to the tailgate and the tailgate to the body.|

For a bumper or license plate mount your probably going to exit out the bottom of the tub but I don't know for sure.

|Kratos770||What I would like to know. How is the way you guys run the antenna cable out the jeep. I want to go out the back.|

Does anyone know anywhere where I can get a double overhead locking radio holder like this one but for a 2014 wrangler? or know anyone that can make one.

After trying to figure out where to shove my mid-full sized CB for a few days while keeping a factory look, I ended up sending it back and getting a Cobra 75WXST. The base is mounted in the passenger kick panel and the handset lives disconnected in the glove box away from prying eyes when I'm in the city and don't need it.

|jjusmc77||You have not seen the way I did it before?|
|02-24-2013 12:58 PM|
A way I haven't seen before.
Mounted directly to the sound bar, and haven't had a problem with any of my friends bustin their noggin on it yet. And have been up some serious trails with a passenger.

This is what I did. I love it. Wires hidden easy adjusting. Simple and effective

|Rude Robert||It has been a long time since i had a cb, i had one in my 89 toy, i knew someone that hooked me up with a lot of channels with a digital selector on my 148, then i had a 250 watt kicker. now, i just want to pull it in and out on my days off lol.. I was thinking of just getting it peaked and tweeked to 20 watts...would just plugging it in the cigarette lighter do?|
|02-06-2013 09:04 AM|
|WXman||I mounted mine to the console right next to the shifter...but on the passenger side. That way my leg won't hit it, it's not in the way of anything else, and the wires were easy to conceal.|

|Rude Robert||Would a cb pluged into the cigerette lighter power it enough, I don't want to hard wire it in, since it will be easy for them to rip out and damage factory wires|

Something to consider.... anything you install in the interior of your Jeep, any vehicle really, may become an obstacle during a crash (god forbid). When you install something, keep in mind where your body will go... where will your legs/knees hit the dash, what's over your head (the overhead storage units for example), what's to your side, and very importantly, where do the air bags deploy. You dont want to bust a knee cap or get wacked in the head during what could have been an non-injury minor crash, bump in a rut , kick back from a rock or log... whatever. Just food for thought.
I would put the CB in the console or along the rear of the console.

|scottmphoto||This is where I mounted mine in the 2010. Moved the CB to the '12 and it is in a similar spot, but mounted on the inside rear of the console.|

|Six||I used Rooster's write up to mount mine. I run the mic cable over top of the CB when I'm not usig it and it doesn't dangle. Keeps the interior nice and clean looking.|

Am looking at it as a cheaper alternative to the tuffy overhead console.

Full size Galaxy SSB and Tuffy mount
This is a full size Galaxy CB with sideband and it barely fit in the box. I had to cut a square out of the back to attach the antenna and power cable.

I would check out this link. It has about every good option your going to find in one place.
LINK-->So where have you been mounting the CB's?

This picture doesn't have the plastic but it fits right.
I hang mine on the footman loop with no drilling. It still works with the 2012 type of hard top. This link will take you directly to a picture and write-up about it -->Remove Sub Box to Ground and Run Antenna Coax - 2DR 2012. It's worked out really good up there. You can run the mic cable over the radio and sort of lock it up there by putting it in the clip for when you don't want to use it. With the Uniden 520XL I'm running if I let the mic go it just dangles and doesn't too much get in the way. Versus if it was on the floor and you dropped it then you would have to fish around to find it.
I also ran the antenna cable through the roll bar padding which worked out pretty good.

I did mine a little diferent.. overhead but back at sound bar.
Just added some support today to take the sag out.. I love it, and I hav it angled so I can see the Display in the rear view mirror
|07-14-2012 05:54 PM|
Can you provide more detailed instructions and different angled photos on this install. I have the smae radio but dont know where else to install it.

|BigManAndy||I have a Cobra 29 mounted on the Arizona Rocky Road overhead CB mount. It's right over the mirror.|
