|Yellow Monster TJ||I have Falkan Rocky Mt A/Ts on mine and I they have gotten me through some snow, mud and I drive them everyday. I was told they are a combination of Yokahama A/Ts and BFG A/Ts, and have a smaller price tag than both. I have heard great things of BFGs so if you can afford them I would go with those.|

I had Treadwright Guard Dogs, I loved them.
Here some info about the process, which is completely different what the do on semi tires or heavy rigs, least from what we have used it is.
Or if you don't like those, I would also suggest Maxxis BigHorns

Most blowouts are from under- or over-inflated tires, new or not, especially if you are talking about commercial trucks(18 wheelers). Whole different ballgame for a much lighter TJ.
I suppose I could make a blanket statement that lift kits are death traps as well, right? Higher center of gravity, death wobble and all that.

|TJNewbie||Tread Wright tires have great reviews by owners and by the JP magazine. Personally I went with the GoodYear Duratracs, they are so much better than My previous BFG T/A KOs, in every way.|

|98 tj sport||I have the bfg mt km2s and I love them, I ended up getting a local tire place to beat some other prices and ended up paying 800 for the set, they do great in everything I've had them in, yea they cost a little but my father in law has a set of km1s on his tj that were originally on his cj that he has had FOREVER I mean me and my wife have been together 5 years and they are the same set of tires and its his dd and they still have quite a bit of tread, so I'm more than happy to pay for a good tire that ik will last a while|

|DuruConsigliere||I run Cooper Discoverer STT's on my Jeep. I get a discount from my ex-employer of 15%. Anyway, they run great on wet, snow, mud, and even did pretty good on the few rocks I've had them on. You just have to make sure you rotate them about every 10,000 miles for a nice even ware.|

|Volta009||My cousin runs guard dogs on his yj and his diesel chevy. He loves them. He also drove semis and knows all about retreads. The whole problem with retreads are heat. Thousands of pounds of weight plus thousands of miles of constant driving=failure. A little jeep for maybe a hundred or so miles a day = same performance of a brand new high price tire. Oh and I done extencive research on treadwright the only failure ive ever heard of is a bulge from them using a patched carcuss. Btw 3 of the guard dogs on my cousins yj are patched carcusses and he has 12000 miles on them with 3/32 wear on them. give up on knocking these every one id like to see some high price tires not needing any weight to balance. His dont. I love that howl from those tires.|

Perhaps retreads are not the best idea for DD's or perhaps there is no reason not to use them i don't know. I do have to say that I have seen a large amount of people that have bought retreads from treadwright.com, rave about them. No real negative posts that couldn't have happened with a new tire just as easy, this is from multiple forums as I did a decent amount of research into them at one point.
With that being said I personally think that they are the absolute best option for those that can not justify running a real aggressive tire on a day to day basis. They make it much easier to pick up a second set of tires to have for when you want to have some fun. Get some cheap rims and poof you will have wheeling tires for years since they wont see constant wear and you have your nice civil street tires for the commute as well.

|Triksy||DON'T do the retreads, you'll regret it. We do retreads at the company I work for on the bigger trucks and they last half as long as a new tire for almost the same cost so really don't save you time or money.|

|HeaveToo||I bought my tires at Pep boys. They have a mail in rebate that you send in and it ends up being you get 4 tires for the price of 3. It is a pretty good deal and comes with lifetime rotation and balancing.|

I hard such a hard time picking mine out. I ended up with BFG All-Terrains.

So far I've been extremely happy with them. Road noise is minimum, they are rated great for just about any condition (surprisingly even snow), not much of a hit to the MPG (although, how do you really decrease the gas mileage of a brick on wheels) and the most important part... they look really cool. They have larger voids than most ATs and have a look closer to a less "diesel" MT. To me it was a good compromise. I wanted muds, but they weren't practical driving over an hour to work every day.

|VolForce||i agree with Pakman....I have a local tire guy that I trust, he either orders stuff in for me ormakes reccomendations to me, either way it works for me, he outfits all 3 of my vehicles and does me right or price and maint.|
