|PecosRiver||My wife likes using the stinger on my Jeep to help her take a back country dump. Grab the top while facing the Jeep and lean back.|

|WatchThis!||You can also use your stinger to push your front end up on ledges that without one you would just push your bumper into.|

The stinger is there so while driving down an incline, your vehicle won't flip over from "back to front". Most of the weight is in the engine compartment and on descent, the light weight rear end wants to flip over to the front. The stinger doesn't let the jeep flip over by acting as a "kick stand" to prevent toppling. As was mentioned by "schnutzy", it can also offer some protection to your winch, if you have one.

they are there to protect the winch(if you have one), and keep the jeep from doing an end-o.
chances are, most people with them may not need them. but who cares.
if the owner likes how it looks, then stinger it up

Why run a stinger?
Not sure why a Jeep would have a front stinger. I thought race rigs used them to lovingly have a slower vehicle move over. Please enlighten (sp) me. Thanks folks.
