Cmeola1001 Thank you so much.. I actually do not know this mechanic and am worried that he may be not a very nice guy..
One more question though.. The jeep is still at his shop and he claims when he puts it on the lifet that he cannot see anything wrong with it. The "not engaging" that you mentioned.. is that something he could see now or it is something that has to be triggered to be seen?

heat fade?

It could be that the clutch was not engaging enough and with heavy longer use started slipping. Once it gets hot it is going to slip bad. He might had made some adjustment and did not want to admit he did it wrong.

About the only thing you can do is to put some stress on the clutch. Make a few uphill starts in 2nd gear so you are working the clutch. Don't slip it intentionally but put some stress on it. If you smell the heat you know there is a problem.

Also, check out the mechanic if you haven't already, or unless you know him.

Clutch question- Please help guys!!

I recently paid a local mechanic $700 to have the clutch on my jeep replaced. It has been about one month and while driving the other day I noticed the same problems with the jeep that I noticed the day the clutch went out last month. I ignored the signs because I knew I had just replaced it.. A few miles later, after much stop and go, I smelled the burning, my rpm's were at about 4 and I could barely get to 10mph. I pulled over and had it towed back to the same mechanic who now tells me it drives fine and he has no idea what it is. I just broke down in the middle of a busy street and he is trying to give me the vehicle back for it to happen again?! Any idea what this could be?? I appreciate any feedback.. Thanks!!
