Oklahoma_yj So what is the bump stop? I'm not real familiar with the AMC product

1970Buick The choke and bump stop really do not perform in unison. They have separate rolls.

Oklahoma_yj Do u think putting a manual choke on it would fix the problem?

Yea, it is impossible without the bump-stop solenoid. It actually keeps your car from stalling at stops

1970Buick Sure, I can post a pic tomorrow. It is still brand new in the box. It cost $25 but I will send it to you for $20.

Oklahoma_yj Sweet how much would u want for it? And could u post a pic of it to make sure I'm talking about the correct part lol

1970Buick I have one of the solenoids if you want to buy it. I had to replace mine and had trouble finding them. I bought 4 when I did find them so I have backups if ever needed again.

Oklahoma_yj Thank you and I have toyed with taking it off sealing the vacuum line and run a manual control for it but I don't know if that would work or not
07-25-2012 03:41 PM
camarozz Yeah, I was thinking it would be Jeep specific, so dealer or salvage yard would be your best bet. You may be able to run with out it too; when I get home I will look at the set up closely and give you my opinion... for whatever its worth.

Oklahoma_yj In fact I talked to 4 different parts houses before anybody could even tell me what it was called lol
07-25-2012 03:35 PM
Oklahoma_yj Yes I still have my original carb and I have looked everywhere for one lol but I guess it's a discontinued part so i can't find anybody that carries one
07-25-2012 03:26 PM
camarozz typically a carb does not come with one. Not sure where you can get them though.

Im assuming you still have the old original carb?

Im looking to replace mine one of these days to a Motorcraft version... but thats just me. Lots of recommendations out there to scrap that old carb and replace with a better version.

My idle stop solenoid vacuum line broke so I am wondering if I buy a new carb will that do away with need of the idle stop solenoid? Or does somebody know where I can get one?
