ou812 Seems cheaper option than the 8.8 and jeep 44
Most important the avaliblity
In my area there are rarely jeep d44's
A guy told me he had 05 rubi axles he'd part with for cheap

So I checked them out
123k miles, all scuffed up with surface rust, leaking seals
No biggie
Price was $4500 for both axles
I can get a xj 44 for around $400

lynn I've heard of this being done before. Not many guys pursue it. I had a buddy who couldn't give away an Isuzu D44 at a big Jeep show/swap meet; no one wanted to research and tackle the project.

converting a difrent dana 44 variant

I see honda passport axles all day long for under $200 on ebay
JP mag used onj under a YJ

some come with 4.30 ratios
anyway there are 6 lug
can I just simply swap in a 5 on 4.5 in the place of the 6 lug shaft?
I know I can get them drilled.

Honda passports and isuszu Amigo/rodeos have dana 44's what do you know about these axles?

Figured a bracket kit,shafts and a $150 d44 is cheaper than a Jeep 44
