Ah well that's really good news.. I'm from the Blue Ridge Mountains (hills) in Virginia and although we don't nearly get the kind of snowfall you do in Alaska. I have had my fair share of winter driving. I can say I'm more confident than anyone from say Arizona lol.. So I think I may just go with the Duratracs without studs all year around.. Thanks for the heads up

907farmer I have never had luck studding tires like that. Once they are in they are in and they typically don't stay in. It's kinda a use as studded for one season and they don't work very will for more than that.

JKralph Duratracs are studdable (if that's a word), they have a bunch of small holes all over the tread to mount the studs in.

Griffith I'm definitely a newb when it comes to studded tires.. If I get the 35 inch duratracs, can I get them studded for the winter? And then de-studded for the summer?

907farmer If this coming winter is anything like last winter, your going to want studded tires.

Griffith Damn, I was wanting to run 35 duratracs all year around :/

907farmer Studded and not 35in. I run 31in studded durning the winter. I'm not sure what the last guy was saying. Summers up here are fine. Winters can be harsh but such is life. You'll enjoy being up here. But I am sorry you have to come up in the middle of winter.

Tires?

I'll be coming up to Alaska in January to live for the next 3 years. I'm looking to to do a 3 inch BDS lift, with 35 inch tires. But i'm not really sure what kind of tires to get for the "Alaskan" weather. Any input is greatly appreciated!
