bpowa there was no rush they had my jeep for a week.. I just wanted done right.. I figure I would spend 100 bucks just for parts.. why not let dealers handle it since its under warranty.

mknight759 there is only one way to fix this problem "do it yourself " most shops rush to get it out more money its not that hard just takes time as long as you have another ride

they had to change the pan gasket to do the seal.. no matter what it is its still leaking.. I no longer have the reciept/workorder.

ill try to torque the pan down.. but it is leaking from the main seal area..

richp Check the oil pan bolts first, that should take 5 minutes at the most, probably take longer to get the tools out and the correct socket.

ygohome I paid a local shop (hopper automotive) to fix my leaking main rear seal.

But then I read how to do it myself from a few places on the internet. If it happens again I may try it. Looks like fun really.

[Repair] Rear Main Seal Replacement

It sounds like it can be very easy to accidentally cut/scar/mess-up the new seal as it's being pushed into place and that can cause it to begin leaking again. Could be that is what happened... or maybe it is just the oil pan gasket as mentioned.

4Jeepn If it was a jeep dealer is it not under a jeep warranty for like 6 mos. Call them or call another dealer in the area.

main seal leak fixed at dealer. not again

well I got my rear main seal fixed at the dealer about a month ago.. I look under the jeep and what do you know.. fresh oil at the same spot.. except its leaking more than before..

what sucks is I think the dealer moved or went out of business. there are no more cars on the lot.. it happened so sudden..

I only got it done at the dealer because it was under warranty.. but I still spent 100 bucks
