I just purchased an 09 2 dr in MD for $28,900 OTD. Didn't come with the power stuff or the navigation, but did get the 6 disc, dual top group, and tow package. I am sure I could have waited for a better deal, but I wanted white and it was the only one in D.C., Va, or MD.

kafka1983 The bad news for me is that the Jeep factory incentive is only $1000 in the Northeast region and $1500 just about everywhere else ($1750 in the Midwest). I think you're right about waiting. I'm 100% convinced that Chrysler is going to have to dig deeper to move inventory (assuming Cerebrus has the cash - they've lost $400 Million thus far this year!). Further incentives will likely come on October 1. By way of expample, one dealer in the Boston area still has 42 Wrangler UNLIMITEDS on the lot (I haven't followed their inventory of the 2 door model). They've only sold two 2008 Unlimiteds in the past two weeks. Another dealer had 55 2008 Grand Cherokees on the lot 2 weeks ago and still has 47. That's 8 units in two weeks with a big incentive when they normally sell 6 or 7 a week without incentives (according to the GM).

I don't know what the future brings, but I'd bet they're going to have to cut even more. And God help the Hummer dealers.

Happy trails!

easternsierramarc My local dealership is advertising $4,000 off ($1,500 from Chrysler and $2,500 from the dealership) on all 2008 Wranglers. Shaver Jeep in Thousand Oaks, CA.

I'm gonna get one, but I'm gonna wait a bit longer.

I'm also gonna take a bath on my 2006 Commander trade-in!!

kafka1983 I just read that Chrysler/Jeep is giving another $1000 dealer incentive to move the 2008s AND 2009s that are on the lot. Plus, as of 9/18/09, they've introduced employee pricing for a SELECT group (military, prior lessees, Chrysler employees, etc.). The $1000 additional incentive is ON TOP OF the advertised rebate of $1000 (in the Northest region - the rebate is $1500 elsewhere like the Mid Atlantic - haven't checked elsewhere). My guess is that the employee pricing will expand to everyone else on October 1.

Hope that's helpful.

chiro2736 just went to the dealership today and they seem to be taking around $4000 off the 2008 sahara's, that is the discounted price they have on the window they also have a bunch of 09's already on the lot.

mud707 They are now offering 1500 cash back or something on 08 wrangler models to the end of sept. and I believe they also have a chrysler to dealer icentive of 400 for any 08 sold befor jan. 2009. Not to many dealerships are moving the 08 models even with these incentives I was thinking of waiting to see if it goes up next month. You can find out what incentives they offer at edmunds.com under incentives and rebates.

kafka1983 My MSRP on my Unlimited is $36,150 (including auto transmission, nav system, dual top group, trail tow group, smokers group). Net price is $33,145 or $3005 under MSRP. Your differential is $3,125 so you did a little better on your two door. Sounds about right.

Happy trails!

Buying a 2009 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Since the Jeep incentive of $1000 on remaining 2008 Wranglers doesn't justify buying one (the value of the 2008 will drop about $2500 to $3000 when the 2009s arrive), I just put an order in on a new 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon at $200 below invoice, plus I get any incentives Jeep is offering on the 2009 model when it arrives (if any). I can, of course, cancel the order any time and get my deposit back. It's a reasonably good deal, but the dealer will still earn about $800 since he's only giving me $200 out of the holdback of about $1000 (dealer cost = invoice minus holdback minus a few incidentals like DAA - dealer advertising association - which gets partly refunded to the dealer).

I'm buying in Massachusetts and am wondering if anyone out there (nationwide) has gotten a better deal elsewhere on a 2009 or has heard anything about new (or hidden) incentives on the 2008 above and beyond the $1000 that is being advertised.

Anybody have any info for me?
