GrnTJ Well of course we are doing it. And yes to renting a house. Id say sometime in January. Im not even allowed to wheel again until December according to the lameo doctor.

tazmann910 So are we going to do this or what??? I have mentioned this to a few friends here in town and they are all for it.

Maybe we could think about renting a house??

Should we start thinking about what weekend?

Open for ideas

GrnTJ Id keep the 8.8 and build it up. That is a great axle and it is deff. comparable to D44 strength. One of its only down sides is the c-clips that hold the shafts in. But then again you can buy the c-clip eliminator kit for it. Do that and you'd be set.

tazmann910 Wow Jeff, kind of like how i am set on long arms and belly up at this moment..

Oh forgot to tell you..there is an 8.8 in my friends yard with my name on it..just trying to decide if i want to build it up or trade someone that plus some cash of a D44.

For an extra grand Im not sure I will go the 4 spd route but we will see. Plus if I eventually swap to a sm465 trans then Im gonna have a granny first gear too that is like 6.5:1 I believe. Thats all down the road but now Im leaing more towards the 2 spd. I may have changed my mind in the realm of which t case I want but at least Im stickin with wanting an Atlas (although I have been kickin the idea of the tera low conversion around a bit too...)

Go figure!!!!!!!!

tazmann910 That sounds sweet, you will be able to get out of your jeep and walk next to it with that kind of ratio.

The other (which I want badly now, go figure) has 1:1, 2.72:1, 3.8:1, and 10.3:1. Then Id have a ratio for just about anything and a killer crawling ratio. I think Im gonna ditch the SM465 idea (for now anyway), keep my AW4 (I can have fun with the auto if I have gear reduction like this), and save my pennies long and hard for this beautiful and shinny transfer case

tazmann910 Nothing a high lift handle can't fix...we had a harder time finding that damn castle nut.

Hard tops are for sissys... topless and door less in the winter...that is where it is at, with the heat cranked.

I think we missed it, I was looking at my map the other day and there is a whole mess of trails that we did not get to...if you are looking at the map, it is the group of level 3 trails in the top left corner, I don't think we hit those trails.

slf41002 I think all the pics of rocks on that page are in the middle garden.

So when the oil is cold it doesnt leak by but once its at operating temp and its thinner it can leak out the end like that. Not their fault really, they rebuilt the axle just like they were supposed to. Just makes me REALLY pissed at the guy I bought it from. Solution:Cut the old flange off of the axle and weld a new one on there. DOH! The owner is real cool and I told him I have NO money left after all that. He said he will get me the part at cost and do it at a reduced shop rate on labor. So I guess once I get about another $100 its going back to the shop to be fixed againOn an upside, he gave me a free sticker and I threw it on. Guess thats the only positive thing I got going for me right now. If it wernt for all these school bills draggin me down it would be in there again right now. Hopefully once that gets taken care of I will be set. Wish me luck fellas, it may be a while before any other mods get done after this. But hell, Im not about to miss another trip to KY or where ever. I want to hit the lower garden in the melting snow very badly.

p.s.

All I have to say is damn dude, that sucks...but you already know that.

Well just think that after this is done, you will know that it is done right.

Wintz50 I am not sure about the hatfield mccoy trails, as far as I know it is still just atv's.

slf41002 I guess I should say I know it is still open but what I mean is did they ever open it to Jeeps/trucks yet??? I have been there a few times on quads and was told the last time they were looking into opening certain trails to trucks!!!Did that ever happen???
