Like I said, unless you know how to paint it's best to do it in multiple coats. For me I did not like the somewhat textured finish multiple coats resulted in. One coat on my wheels, no runs, no drips, dried perfectly. A much smoother finish with a light sheen to it. Going on 5 months now that it's been applied and it still looks great.
Oh, and if you do take it off and have trouble spots WD40 on a rag will dissolve it without hurting the wheel paint. Lacquer thinner also works, but you need to work fast and not stay in one spot or you will damage the paint.

I have applied it to wheels in the past.
DO NOT do it in one coat! You need to apply atleast 4-5 very light coats so you will achieve a uniform/smooth appearance. The more coats the better when it comes to removal. I made the mistake of only applying 3 coats, and while it looked ok, it was a PIA to remove.. ie. it came off in little pieces where the coverage wasn't very thick.
You do not need to protect the tires, because any overspray on the tires comes right off.

On a scale of 1-10.....well, depends really. If I really wanted to do it right I would have had them powder coated. Which would be a 10. BUT, since I'm cheap, and if one gets scuffed I can peal it off and re-do it for $6, I'll give them an 8.
Since I did the one coat process the finish came out very smooth with an eggshell sheen to it. Not the slightly textured, flatter look of doing multiple coats. In my opinion I think the one coat sheen looks better.
Cleaning, you need to be careful. I use an old wash mitt to clean the wheels. I was using a brush, but nicked the plastidip with the plastic brush head. The stuff is durable for everyday dust and dirt, just don't expect it to hold up against impacts or hard scratching. But it's cheap and easy to re-do. So.

I cleaned my wheels thoroughly with Orange Blast cleaner, then wiped them down with a lint free cloth and 93% rubbing alcohol. Remove center cap, or don't. Then I taped off the holes from the back side of the wheel so I wouldn't get overspray on the inside. Also taped the valve stem. First wheel I taped off the tire, then I decided to stick playing cards between the edge of the wheel and tire, where the bead is, makes cleanup easy.
If you are experienced at painting you can do it in one coat. As I did mine this way with no drips at all. If the plastidip drips or pools it won't dry right. It'll look splotchy. Otherwise do light, even coats. 4-5 coats should yield a nice finish.
I painted over the wheel weights.
Remove the playing cards while it's still relatively wet to avoid peeling the edges away.

This weekend im plasti-dipping my spare wheel. If i like it i will do the rest. If i dont i will just peel it off. does anybody have any tips for applying it? like how clean should it be? and what about the lugs? should i do those also? Plus maybe see some examples of other plasti-dips?
