04moneypit I know this is an older thread, but if you are wanting to go carb, the easiest way would be to get a cj rebuilders manual and follow the wiring diagram of an early 70's cj, with a new manifold and carb. You may even get a painless wiring harness for an earlier model. This way you could have your accessories already pre-wired and the hard work mostly done. Since FL is a non-emissions state, no worries about smogging it. Should be a fairly easy conversion. Or, for about the price of a new manifold and carb, you could get a used AMC V8 (304-401) and swap it in if you're looking for more power. It is a straight forward swap, I don't believe you have to change the bellhousing, Just motor mounts, maybe rad. and exhaust. Just a thought.

DownandDirty If I keep the motor that's in it, I'm going to install an aftermarket intake and carb. I've never been a fan of the computer junk.

Do you want to just replace it with something newer? Or do you say want to go to fool injection? Also what is wrong with it currenlty that is not working for you?

Wiring question

I've got an 84 CJ7 that still has the factory carb and computer diagnostic junk on it. What is the correct way to delete this stuff? I'm pretty good mechanically but I figured I would find the correct way to do it rather than trial and error.
