Zak Hi guys:

I have a TJ Hardop 2006, i was thinking to buy the rear both sides shades in Red to reduce little heat and to match the red colour touch of my interior..

Do you think it can be fit without removing the hard top?

so what do you think?
I just put my soft top up for the first time since I put it on> I put it up right over it. No problem and I think it helps with some sound. I'll probably start by leaving into on when I put my hardtop on as they do not have any head liner. It should help keep noise down and heat in. We will see...

I have the shade cage for the tj. The back comes down right to the top of the rear seat. Also have the side windows that come with it.

I bought the bungee ball cords from Wall-mart in the hunting camping section ..not sure the size but if they are too long you you can also shorten them. They were cheap and one pack is enough.

JRoweMDN I bought the SW1for my TJ and I am very happy. Driving home from Atlanta it was 94 degrees and the shade was a big improvement over topless. It still let you feel the open air and it cuts down on wind slightly. I really like that I can put the top up without removing the shade. I would definitely recommend it. I now run with the top down more than I used to in the hot FL sun.

One tip..if you order ask for them to make sure one grommet on the 44" side is placed in the middle to make sure it lines up better with the footman's loop on the front window frame... they normally space grommets every 12 inches.

I am just nervous I am going to feel "closed in" with it on.

Mine's just over the front and we get very little sun from the back due to the height of the seat backs plus the sound bar. Very happy with ours and typical summer temps here is 100.

Size question

So after failing to find a local source in MI for shade cloth (Lowes and HD don't carry it in northern states.. I have found an on line source that will make any size for me ...90 % ultra mesh type shade material with sewn hems and grommets ever 1 ' for under $20 for the TJkini and $30 for the SW1 plus $10 shipping. I'm going with the SW1 but not exactly sure how wide and long to order. I'm leaning to 45" x 58" but not sure how much stretch there is in the material. Can anyone tell me exactly how wide and long their SW1 is? Once I get it I will report back on the quality and source.

Thanks

I see his goes over the back seat, too, but Im comparing the front piece.

Yep, you got the wrong one, just like me.

Now mount that JK-kini reverse to the rear and your all set, that's where mine now is in the pics above.

IMO its a must for anyone who drives topless for any amount of time. Keeps the open feel pretty well, very slightly cuts down on the wind but you can still definitely tell that youre rolling without the top on.

The SW1 was the perfect size for me, covers the front and the back without obstructing any line of sight.

The ultramesh stretched to a near perfect fit. I cant attest to the trailmesh as i dont have it, but I have seen a few pictures and I lersonally think that the ultramesh fits better - but it doesnt come with a five year warranty either.

woggie I have one on my TJ and the wife's JK and love them. We have the trailmesh that covers front and back (SW1 for TJ not sure if same for JK). It will be the best money you spend, makes a huge difference here in N. Texas.

uniballer I have the TJ SW1 in trail mesh, and I saved a couple bucks by buying it from Krawl Offroad. I love it. I like to run as bare as possible in the summer. No top or top hardware, no doors. But yesterday, when rain threatened, I put the door surrounds, doors, and soft top back on and didn't have to touch the web shade at all. The whole process took 15 minutes and I was rain ready. Today I ripped it all back down again.

The spiderwebshade doesn't feel like a top at all, but it does provide cooler cabin temps while in the open, and is quieter than either open air or the regular factory soft top without windows or doors. The back of the sw1 will flap a little in the wind, but it doesn't register.

Overall, it's win win, and I would recommend it to everyone that likes open top. I've yet to do serious trail work with it yet. But I'm not afraid too, feels pretty durable and the holes are small and the weave tight, I bet it would be difficult to snag.

DaK If I had it to do over again, it would be the one that covers the front and back seats. Even though we don't have our backseat installed anymore the extra shade would be nice for the back of the neck.

2003x Thank you. I am planning on ordering one tonight, so any advice is appreciated.

03Ruth Cant speak for the ultramesh but I have the trail mesh and it is well worth it to keep the sun from beating down on you. I love mine and it dosent completely lose that open air feeling because it is see through

I like the slightly more fitted look that you get with the ultra mesh and I think it lets a little more light in than the trail mesh.

I went with the SW1, I wouldnt want any more or less coverage than that.

2003x I am glad this was posted! I am looking at the SW1 Ultra Mesh. its $69.99.
The SW1 TJ UltraMesh [SW1 UM] - $69.99 : The JeepHut - Your 4wd Experts, Jeep Parts, Accessories, and Gifts

My questions are, is any one running this one? And does it take away from that "open feel". Is it worth the money to keep the sun off you? Or is it the same as throwing the top up and leaving the windows out?
