ken78744 With that low of miles you should be able to use the factory bearing spacers and not have much problem resetting ring gear lash. Just pull the axles out pop off diff cover, unbolt bearing caps on both sides of the carrier and carefully pull it out, put down a old clean rag to catch bearing spacers make sure to put them back in the same way they came out because of wear. Now put it all in and set the lash in the ring gear so paint it to make sure it has good ride pattern on the ring and pinion and if so ur done if now you have to play with the spacers on both side till it has a good ride pattern (it should the first time) put cover on gease axle ends with bearing gease so the don't have the chance of tearing a new seal fill it and now your done hope this helps...

madkinstx I'm in cibolo it's between San Antonio and New Braunsfels off of I 35. This will be my first time taking a differential apart. My father in law used to be a mechanic for ford then did hydraulic work in air force so he will supervise, but I would still like help or pointers from someone that has done this on a jeep before I'm going to order the seals and differential gasket tomorrow. Unfortunately sept 1st is my next day off.

madkinstx I only have 48000 mile on jeep so I hope the axles are still in good shape. I don't really want to spend any money to beef up the front end, I want to replace the whole axle with a Dana 44 in a year or so.

madkinstx Dana 30, they are inner axle seals, so yeh I'll have to pull the shafts. Looks like a lot of work for two 5$ seals.

ken78744 What axle u got up front, and those seals for the axle shafts are internal so it might be time for a rebuild of front axle????

Front axle oil seals? Need help?

My front axle is leaking oil out of the drivers side of the shaft. I'm going to attempt to replace these myself. Anyone have experience doing this, That would be willing to help? I'm going to try and do this over labor day weekend. I live northeast of town in Cibolo.
