Sasquatch 4x4 been doing a lot of wheeling, not much working on it because of school and work, but i have a pretty big update thats going to make this build a little more exciting. i just bought this as a parts car!:

1500 bucks the thing runs decently has a 4" lift and 33" toyos, so i bought it mainly for the tires and axles, the toyos have about 2000 miles on them and those brand new are worth 1300 alone, the axles are dana 44s front and rear. So my plan is to have fun with this for a while then take the axles and tires, and possible the amc 360 and part out the rest of. i'll rebuild the d44s and throw them under the YJ.

the firestik works well, i still dont have my cb tuned right though so i wouldnt be able to give you too accurate of an oppinion, for flex, its good but i got spring for it to be safe.

Sasquatch 4x4 finally put my drop pitman arm on. didnt correct the steering as much as i thought it would. still better than before. Actually had to cut the old one off, what a PITA. Oh well finally got my Steering wheel straight for the first time since it was lifted.

May not be updating this too much for awhile, i've been spending money faster than i'm earning it and i'll be transferring to a four year in january so saving my money is more than likely the smartes thing to do right now. But we'll see...

Sasquatch 4x4 just ordered the 1 Gallon Monstaliner roll on bedliner kit from ebay for $134 with free shipping. has anybody used this stuff before. Seems to be on the nicer end of the spectrum of DIY bedliners along with herculiner and such. i was attracted to it though for the smoother surface. my dad has hercu and that stuff is rough!

Thanks! Havent tested out the CB in terms of communication yet but, physically on the jeep the firestik is nice, its not super uber flexy but its enough, i'd definitly recomment getting the spring though cause it will protect/prevent damage to both your mount and your antenna. I got mine for $30.

Sasquatch 4x4 Also wanted to mention that i've been ordering a lot of stuff from Northridge4x4 and i really recommend them. For me they're very convenient cause they're also located in WA so its faster shipping but each time i've ordered they've gone the extra mile to help me out. First order i order the medium duty spring for my antenna which is for a 3ft or shorter antenna and i'd ordered the 4ft, they shipped me the heavy duty spring to match instead. The second time i ordered it didnt ship for 3 or 4 days and to make up they shipped it express. they're customer service is awesome and i will be a returning customer.

Sasquatch 4x4 Update: been doin lots of quick off roading around the area but no longer trips, the jeep continues to amaze me with its ability to drive through anything. Going on first real wheeling trip this weekend to the moses lake dunes and possible up to liberty if the forest fires calm down a bit.

Been buying lots of new stuff, got some white knuckle off road rock rails, they havent arrived yet, still waiting and anxious to get them.

Also got a new CB set up. bought a 4ft firestik with a spring, then a Uniden cb. i also bought the Smittybilt stereo center console and mounted the cb where the radio is designed to go, i really like it so far, lots more storage space and i can actually use it as an arm rest. heres some pics;

The Center console

CB mounted in the radio compartment

relocated the antenna mount to put the new firestik in the rear.

Uhm, go to page 3 of my build thread, near the bottom.. there is a before and after shot. i just followed the little contour line, where there is the ripple-like part in the plastic flares.. its hard to explain.. lemme know if u understand haha

I got the Idea from someone else, YamJam i believe, and it looks great, nice build btw.. good to see other college students doing the same thing i am

nJeepin Nice build man! I just bought a yj too and plan on doing most of the stuff you did and im a student also lol how do you like that lift?
06-18-2012 05:04 PM
Sasquatch 4x4 just ordered the crown 4x4 brake line extension kit. got the lines for the bigger lift just to be safe, rather have more than enough than just enough.

Zombiekiller it looks really good! jealous of the winch

Sasquatch 4x4 alright, finally an exciting segment of the build! She went through a nice transformation over the past few weeks, got a 4" lift (RC i know, but look at the title of the thread!), some heavy duty greasable Currie Shackles, a high lift, and as a graduation present a Warn VR8000 winch, then i got a smittybilt winch plate to mount it.

Here's how she Sits now:

New winch!!

And some Stickers to personalize it a little bit more, (ironic thing about the American flag is that i picked that up this weekend at an all euro car drive i was on with my buddies).

All in all the lift went really well, i'd been liquid wrenching all the bolts everyday for a week before i installed the lift so they came out easy. only real problem was that with the T case drop, it loosened up my exhaust so it rattled off the skid plate, fixed that today with a homemade hanger. i still have to install the drop pitman arm but steering isnt that bad. Also i can't get the Pin like bolts out of the sway bar to put the extended links on it, we have a press so i'll try to get em out with that.

ADVICE WANTED!!: currently my breaklines are not long enough to have any sort of off road suspension travel, i can drive fine on the road but any real flexing stretches them. are there any kits i can buy that come with the brakelines i need? i dont want to buy steel braided ones because they're expensive and in my mind not worth the money. should i just see if i can buy a bunch of rubber brakeline hosing and use that?

Sasquatch 4x4 Post some pics of it lifted soon..

@Zombiekiller hinges are black, so are hood pins, headlight bezels, might get around to painting the grill black but not yet, it has some bubbles in the paint on the grill so if they get worse i'll probably just take some black to it.
06-09-2012 03:03 PM
Zombiekiller looking good man! you should rattle can your hinges and front grill, if you break the blue up it would looks really good imo

Sasquatch 4x4 So its been awhile. first off, i've had my soft top on for probably a month or so now and i've been running it without a few parts and some home made parts it was still water tight but it didnt fit as well as it should, so i finally bought the replacement parts. the weather has also been getting nice here in washington so i bought a bikini top too, unfortunately, the day it arrived the weather has gotten Sh!tty again!

My Dads CJ7 is finally ready so we took up some forest service/powerline roads up in the mountains. not too hardcore but found some places to play around and also got into some snow and had to use my tow hooks for the first time.

Also i've been rethinkin my plan for lifting it and i think i'm gonna go with the rough country lift, i know a lot of people say it rides bad but its a jeep also it seems like it does great for the price so i think i'm gonna go for it.

Tell me what ya think.

Tool Box

So we've had this box in our shed for awhile and i needed a new box to put some tools in and this one had the lock latch but was in bad shape so it needed some work...

It was VERY rusty and the hinges were cracked, rusted, bent, and broken.

Grinded off all the rust and broke off/grinded down the old hinges.

Bought some new hinges and some krylon paint and now it looks a lot better:

Ah, who needs lights? lol.

Sasquatch 4x4 UPDATE: put my soft top on. i had to make a few small pieces for it as the PO didnt give me all the parts cause he'd never put it on and didnt know what went with it. i still need some pieces that i've been gettin by with out but would love to have. i need the clips that go around the rear corners of the tub and both brackets that go in between the windshield frame and roll bar. if anybody has these extra and are willing to sell for a good price i would be interested.
