Yep, you have a 2" Spacer lift (Budget Boost).
Your stock shocks work fine with it. Personally I would keep the stock shocks unless you are willing to upgrade them to a OME or Bilstein which are about $100/ea. Lots of crap shocks out there in the $30-$40/ea range that are harsher than your stock oem shocks.
Here is what I would recommend for you in the short term. I would get a 1.25" body lift and don't worry about your changing your suspension right now. That combo (2"bb and 1.25"bl will be just fine until you have time to research what you want/need for springs, SYE, CV driveline, etc.)
You will be able to have lots of fun with that combo for mild offroading.

Well first, what do you do with your jeep? Rock crawling, weekend 4wheeling, dirt roads every once and a while, or something in between? You pretty much have 2 general choices. You can get a total lift kit (longer control arms, bigger springs, and longer shocks) Or you can get a budget boost (Spacers that go on the top of your stock springs to increase their height, and longer shocks) The Budget Boost is the cheapest option, but you can run into problems like coil bind at full flex because of the spacer. For serious offroading you will probably want a total lift kit because of its better ability to flex without coil bind and it will technically be done "right" because you will have longer control arms that are meant for the lift.
As far as what size lift for 33" tires, that also depends on what you plan to do with your jeep. I have a 3.5" lift and can flex pretty well with 33" tires. I have heard people run 33" tires with a 2" Budget Boost and a 1" body lift. A body lift simply raises the body of your jeep off of the frame, giving you more clearance for tires.
What rear axle do you have? If you have a dana 35, you will probably want to look at upgrading that before 33" tires. Most people in the offroading community will agree that the dana 35 has no place in 33" tires, and even 31" can be pushing its limits. Some people snap their dana 35 with too much gas from a stop light, while some run them for years on tough trails with no problems. The axle has been pretty well described as a "crapshoot"
If you get a 3" lift or higher, you will probably need either a SYE with new driveshaft, or a transfer case drop. The correct way to do it would be a SYE (Slip Yoke Eliminator) and a CV driveshaft because it will give you more clearance compared to a transfer case drop and wont give you any trouble with the 4wd linkage or your ability to shift gears. With a SYE you will also need adjustable rear upper control arms to adjust the pinion angle. For this reason, many choose to simply do the TC drop because of its simplicity and much cheaper price tag. Some people can run a 3" lift with neither and be fine with no vibrations, and some need a TC drop or SYE with a 2.5" lift, it just depends.
As you can see, its a whole lot of stuff to just go to 33" tires, and stepping to 35" gets even more!

2001 tj lift
I just got a new 2001 Tj a month ago and I was wondering what a good lift would be to put on it. It has 33 inch tires
