0III0forlife I would say that the corrosion on the board on the back of the cluster is what is giving you the problem.

You can take the item out of the board...i.e. dash light. and use an eraser on the end of a pencil to clean up the copper circuit.

There is also an aerosol made by CRC that is called contact cleaner. I have used that before when dealing with the gauge cluster in the center of the dash. CRC coupled with a pencil eraser should get your circuit board back into working condition.

Be gentle with the erasing part. the copper in the circuit is thin and sensitive.

Welcome to the forum. And don't throw a fit if your answers don't get answers right off the bat. It's in the YJ section I'd bet 90% of this forum has TJ's or JK's so our section doesn't get as much attention.

steinklatre Look the second post was her husband I am kinda pissed off that she asks questions on here and is new to the forums and nobody really replies. I(he) belong to a Chevelle forum and it isn't really the place to ask Jeep stuff. I did ask and they have me well on the way to helping my wife fix her issue on the Jeep. I find it amazing that I have to throw a M-80 in the room to get her some attention.

Now facts:

'94 4.0 YJ with OBD I throwing no codes. I ripped out an old security system and rewired connected the stock wires according to the diagrams. Now before you guys jump to the same conclusion that I did that the wires must be shorted that isn't likely due to the fact the issue has always been there.

I did notice the PCB on the back of the cluster has minor corrsion. Among the electrical issue if you turn on the lights some bulbs are burnt and if you turn on a blinker the High Beams blinks.

0III0forlife Before you start bustin' on this forum, why don't you try giving us a little more information.

Year? Motor size?, something to give us an idea what you are working with.

Not all YJ's are the same, I know that my 87 gets its signal directly from the distributor, but the newer ones get it from the crank sensor.

You are throwing out all that attitude, and once these guys read that, you wont get an answer even if they knew what the problem was.

One thing you have to understand, its really difficult to trouble shoot a problem that someone else is having, without seeing the vehicle or being able to have a hands on approach to it.

Small issues only require belonging to one forum Anyway there's usually no way to completely isolate what's wrong, start replacing stuff. Start with the sending unit / sensor that's probably the cheapest.

Help me conquer this TACH issue.

Symptoms:

At idle Tach reads about 100 speeding up through the gears never reads above 1K. So I am thinking its either with the gauge or sensor. On a Chevy I know the system. A jeep rather ask then prod.
