I was born and raised in Florida (Jacksonville). Though I lived there for the first 37 1/2 years of my life, I've always loved colder weather and mountains. Moving to Colorado was the best thing I've ever done!

AdrianVall Wow! That is a seriously clean YJ! Very, very impressive! Especially since it only cost $2k. GREAT deal. Welcome to the forum!

Mr. Poo Paws And, she is. Luckily, the previous owner had already removed the sun from the stripes and hood.

Mr. Poo Paws Thanks! I've already learned more about Jeeps reading through these forums than I ever did painting them years ago. I originally was going to skip this YJ because she didn't have the 4.0 HO, but from I've read here, the 4.2 can be a fine motor.

BRAVO TANGO Congrats on the yj and welcome to the forum. You can find lots of information here on just about anything jeep related.

Hello! I've been reading through these forums for the last two weeks while I decided on buying a Jeep YJ that my boss told me about when I returned from Costa Rica a few weeks ago. I must say, the wealth of information here is staggering and was way beyond helpful with my decision. I just got home with my new (to me) Jeep. She's an '89 YJ Islander hardtop with the 4.2 I6 and a 5 speed. She came with a hi-lift jack, spare fender flares, and a bikini top. Overall, she has 193,000 miles on the odometer but about 70,000 on a rebuilt. She's rust free, and other than the front passengers side fender, she still has her original red paint. The previous owner has replaced all the rubber hoses and lines under the hood, new brake lines, and new shocks. I paid $2,000 even. She still has the old Carter carb, but from what I've read on here, I'm thinking one of the first things I do (after replacing the bad heater core) is replace that with a MC2150.

Now, about me. I'm a 40 year old single male. I came to Colorado on vacation in August '08 and made a 1 year plan to move and call this wonderful state home. I made it 10 months before the Florida summer arrived and I packed everything up and headed west! I'm a dog handler here in Denver and have 2 dogs. After realizing that my '91 Honda Civic could only take me to the overcrowded hiking spots with fancy paved parking lots, I decided I needed a 4x4. I worked at a Jeep dealer in the early 90's, so I started looking for a YJ (I've always loved leaf sprung Jeeps). So, I am! I look forward to meeting any local members and using the ridiculous amount of knowledge on here to make my Jeep better!
