Baby Huey Check some of the other Jeep Forums, there are several that are pretty heavy into build your own....I have found some good ideas on some of em.
The Spindle for the swing out carriers are available separate , not sure of the supplier right off hand, but if you search around you will find it....Maybe someone here can help too. "BH"

MudRunner AEV offers just their carrier and I have seen numerous conversions using it and cutting a hole through the bumper to mount it to the frame. Here is a link to someone who mounted it to a mopar aftermarket rear bumper http://forum.aev-conversions.com/showthread.php?t=3069 Hope this helps. Good luck and if you do this be sure to make a write up!

the Kolector worst they can say is no, worth a shot, esp if you like the carrier.

burton861 Yeah I've looked at their carrier, and I like it, but am not a huge fan of their bumper. I did think about asking for just the carrier- I guess it can't hurt to send an email and ask!

the Kolector I wouldn't know where to begin. I, personally, would probably sell the old and get a new unit that had it all together. Look at the ACE setup, they have pics and videos that you can look at and maybe get a better idea of where to start. Maybe they can just sell you the carrier?? (not sure if that would be an option on their part or not)

Tire carrier build help

I think we all know that if you get larger tires, you need to get a tire carrier to compensate for the weight... Well I've been running 35's on my 07 unlimited since I got it and I've done plenty of wheeling with it and nothing ever happened. However its always been in the back of my mind and I think its time to do something about it.

So here is the problem- I already have an aftermarket bumper, and I would like to build a tire carrier and weld it to this bumper instead of buying new. I know there are numerous build threads, but I would really like to build a one motion (one hand) tire carrier. These are the tire carriers that open with the gate, instead of having to do both.

Does anyone know how to do this? Has anyone built this? Is there a thread I haven't seen?

Mostly what I need to know is how to link the carrier to the gate so it opens and closes correctly.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
