Jerry can or other options?

I am new to this forum, (and to jeeps) I come from mustangs and a BMW m3 that i loved to auto-x. I got a 2011 jku sport about a year ago and have been hitting the trails out where I live in the California desert.

In short, is there a way to carry extra gas or mount jerry cans/rotopax to my jeep without spending over 500 bucks? I fill up my tank, go about 40 to 5o miles off road and am already at a half tank! Id like to carry some extra gas but don't want to blow money on a rear tire carrier or a roof rack, does anyone have any good solutions?

Thanks in advance
