turbodiesel93 Ive been to rock rd and tim rd for the past year both always have cops especially after dark. The cops dont like us there and the neighborhood doesnt like us there either because of the people that get too stupid and trash the place. Also at rock rd usually people take their four wheelers and dirtbikes and hall butt down the paved road making noise in the middle of the night. The cops usually go there every friday and saturday night.usually there is a pretty big crowd though. I usually go during the day but my jeep is out of commission until I put my new ring and pinion in. Btw Im new to this forum. Im highly intrested in going wheeling with some of you guys when ol red is goin again.
freonburn Yup it's official. Rock Rd has been shut down by the police. I wasn't there, but tonight they showed up and gave about 20 people warnings

that's what we are hoping for. We actually have a plan in place for what we want to do so we are hopeful he responds well. And thanks. DM sent regarding rc

while you're looking that far back, look at how old that was and try to figure out when the OP posted last in here. But I do agree that the wrong element can ruin a really good thing. That's part of why my buddy started 757 Jeepers. Responsible wheeling and trail upkeep. Heck we were looking at the unmanaged rd leading directly into burton station and were thinking of having a meetup to clean that crap up. And I mean we walked it to see how bad people have been dumping.

cd712 i got no problem with private land with permission.
thats the right way.

Offroading in the Virginia beach/ Hampton roads area?
Anyone have a good place to go? i dont care if its legal or not. Currently stationed at LEB Little creek.

sometimes it only takes 1 bad thing to ruin 10 good ones.
the people that get areas closed down feed off these types of incidents.

freonburn 757 Jeepers is meeting up in Norfolk Wednesday evening btw.

Yup. That's the one. Little tiny spot, but he puts on charity runs from time to time and his bog is insane.

I'd be glad to check it out some time. Preferably while the sun is up and it's dryish out as I still haven't put the new shoes on the YJ yet lol

There's also one off holland and damn neck rd that's hidden away. I haven't been able to check it out yet as I don't wheel alone so if anyone wants to go let me know. My jeep will be out of commission for a couple days as she will be going in the shop to have my lift installed.

there are no public wheeling spots in southeast va.

if you dont have permission from the property owner, you are wrong.

apparently the mods here dont subscribe to that theory, or this (and alot of other threads) would have been locked long ago.

The video that I showed was on private property with the owner's permission. That trail is his personal trail and he has meetups there at least once a month.

Additionally, as stated there IS legal offroading in the hampton roads area, but not much of it.
--There is a place in VA Beach up near Laskin & VA Beach Blvd that is private property and the owner allows anyone to come on and wheel every friday night starting at 6PM.
--In Chesapeake, there is Rock Rd which is not illegal and the land owners do not care if people are wheeling there before dark.
--Tim RD, I just found out who the real owner is and am working on getting permission to use that land legally.
--RC Airport, where I lost my TJ, is not illegal and I have personally gone back there and cleaned up the trail because some idiot from Moyock was going there to dump tires.
--Finally, there is Lee Hall in Hampton. That is not illegal, but as stated people going out there and trashing the place and being there all hours of night may make it become illegal. There is a club that wheels it pretty regularly and they are making a point to work with the city and the apartment complex next door to keep it open and available.

So before people jump to conclusions, maybe more information would be necessary. I have shared the locations of with y'all for Tim Rd and Rock Rd because they are very well known spots around here. Tim Rd the police do hassle people because there was a club that had permission about 6 years ago and those people didn't listen to the owner and dumped trash and trespassed in other areas they were not supposed to go. Rock Rd, very well known spot, haven't ever heard of police hassle there, and the company that owns the land doesn't care if people are there. heck it's their dump site.

Hopkins Somebody is riding on their high horse...

I agree that respect should be paid to the natural environment, which means staying on the trail and leaving the trail just as clean as it was (if not cleaner) before your arrival. I am a solid believer in minimizing damage and disturbance to the natural habitat and creatures/organisms on and around the trail.

However, to think that people just aren't going to go offroad here around Hampton Roads in unrealistic. If it is your opinion and practice to only wheel where it is specifically stated as legal then that is your preference, but don't judge others for doing otherwise. If efforts have been made to keep vehicles out then its not somewhere I will go, but if it is clearly accepted (such as Rock Rd) then I see no problems with it. If the owner doesn't care that people are using his company's land to go wheeling on then why should you?

I am aware that public lands are being closed and irresponsible actions give our sport a bad name, but eventually enough of this will cause a privatization of offloading lands and more ORV parks will open up creating even more room for our sport to grow. At least that is what I would like to see happen...
