Rolf It is definately a Dana 35, no need to measure anything. The earlier non c-clip D35s had differential covers with metal fill plugs. Original Dana D35 covers can even be bought new with metal fill plugs.

30-284 Measure the axle tube, as the 35 has 2 3/4" tube and the 8.25 has 3" tube.

I considered that as well but I still think it's a D35. The diff cover just doesn't look like that from an 8.25.

jeepwayoflife What the heck! It looks to be the shape of a Dana 35 but I have never seen a Dana 35 with a metal fill plug...
