|Bronek||I've been doing a lot of research on the 4.0L as I plan to stroke and/or blow mine in a similar fashion to you. As far as I can tell, there are two models that you need to be concerned with. There is the 91-95, the 96-99, and the 00-06, although there is a great interchange of parts amongst them. For a straight plug and play, stick with a 96-99 block. The cam is interchangable across the years, but other things like the headers vary, getting a change in 2000.|

4.0l Blocks. Is there a better one?
Is there a better 4.0l block? I thought I read somewhere that there is a couple of years that the block was cast with some extra webbing to strengthen it. Is that true?
I have a 98 TJ with a 4.0l and want to find a junkyard longblock to have rebuilt so I can do a weekend swap. I find alot of 4.0s out of cherokees, but never in my year. Do I need to stick with a 98, or can I expand my search to all years?
