geiman After going aluminium, I'd never do anything else. I can easily lower and lift my Savvy skids by myself without much effort at all. It makes removing them for servicing things much less of a chore.

jrussblues Mines 3/16 and its a pita to work with. Worth the protection but probably weighs about 100 lbs

UnlimitedLJ04 this is all 1/4"

it's f'n heavy....especially when trying to wrestle it around off the jeep.

I got this stuff long before the current market players were available. To do it over again, I'd do UCF's aluminum skids.

Custom skid plates

ok... here's one for the mob...

I'm gonna make some custom skid plates... I was thinking 1/4 inch steel... how much weight do you think I can get away with under the jeep?

I was guessing 200-300 pounds..

I was also thinking of making it into the tranny pan... kind of like that tummy tuck kit they sell.

I do a lot of hunting and rock crawling with it...

and its a DD... but not for long as my DD YJ is almost done with an engine rebuild... but I wanna be able to drive my TJ to the wheelin spots...

What say you all?
