|KaBar||Awesome build!! Definitely will be checking in to see updates. As for the dash. Love the idea. I like your squared idea better than the rounded one that company sells. As for more ideas, I like the center that is turned towards the driver but maybe have it turned up a bit too? And switches and cb radio or CD player slot too. Also extend the dash further out to cover the speakers instead of the separate covers. Just ideas but things I have thought about|

Thanks pvarn57, I'm thinking about making my front fenders out of glass. But the cost of making RH and LH molds for them might kill the idea.
It's my son Radney's 17th birthday tomorrow, I pick him up from school at noon and we are going to deliver a load of firewood, have lunch, hookup to the gooseneck and go pick up the Dana 60 chassis. What a great birthday! He's digging it.

Your build is lookin good, your very lucky you can do the fiberglass work, you can fab anything you need, that's great! And, I know how it is juggling family time with build time
But ....family is always first! Keep up the good work!

Ok, I'm not going to check or update from my phone. That enhanced view blows!
Got the SYE installed in the np321, pretty straight forward.
Sealed the deal on trading my aluminum heads for the F350 chassis rolling on Dana 60s. Pick it up Friday

|kywaterman||Hey Scoob, hadn't been on in a while so I had to catch up on what you've done these past few months. Its looking good, sounds like you've been finding some good deals. On note about the tire groover, I know some guys around here that actually use a chain saw, lol. I wouldn't trust myself but its an option ha.|

The build will go on, just not here.
The Enhanced Mobile View is really waisting my time on updating and checking out other builds. I'm out, I might update when it's done......

Scored on some 38.5 mudders
On some FB mud bogger page some guy had some 38.5s for $150, I threw him a bone of $100 and he took it. They are pretty worn but I will cut them.
I searched around for a tire groover, Summit wanted 80-$99 and they are all over eBay for 65-$80. Comes to be, about 35 minute drive for me is a company that makes them. I called and they are open tomorrow and the cost is $68.00!
Not sure if I will keep them or cut them and try to flip them, I was planning on running 40's.

|jgreen89YJ||I gotta say this thread is awesome! the details you give make me feel like i'm building it also. lol I would be interested in a dash for my 89 yj, just don't quite have the cash right now I gotta fork out the cash for a 8.8 rear end and a lift kit.|

Pulled the NP
Got it out today, that was a pita. I'm going to drop the Trans when I reinstall it.

After my son and I went and got a load of firewood I pulled the drivers seat out. Scribed the lines to cut the hole over the transfer case larger, I thought that was a bad idea. There's a brace going across right where the front seats bolt in that I would have removed. Not a good idea. Should have the 231 out tonight or in the morning, football games on tonight?

Got more tacked in
Here's where I'm a tonight. I don't have 220v out in the garage so I need to make an adapter so I can plug the miller into my generator so I can finish the welding. I just used the 110 setting for the tacking.
The trade for the aluminum heads for the F350 frame on the Dana 60's looks promising. Found out tonight that it comes with some pretty good rollers.

12oz for scale*
There I fixed it.

This is where I'm at tonight
Wasn't going too but I cut and got things tacked in, I'm happy with the tolerance. 1/16". Attachment 1718946

Bought some steel
This is what I'm thinking, the 2 pieces on top will be cut at a 45 and will be gussets along with another going right to left under the tail gate.

|daddyjeep||I like that. It blends the old and new together nicely.|

Cut these to reinforce the stretch. I said I was going to reuse the stock bumper, Not, to much weld, I'll buy new steel this weekend.
I got a deal in the works, trading my aluminum heads for a '94 F350 frame on dana 60 axles. This is cool, I don't need the heads until I build the 383. I do need the front dana 60. I'll sell the frame and rear 60.
|12-08-2014 06:57 PM|
|Scooby88||Look what showed up today! Going to keep working on the rear, plan on dropping the transfer case over the holiday break. My last day of work is Dec.16th should be able to get a lot done.|
|12-07-2014 05:50 PM|
|Scooby88||Did some cutting and tacking this afternoon, I like it! I need to cut the bumper off the pieces of frame removed, it seems pretty stout so I'll reuse it.|
|12-04-2014 07:14 PM|
Just like it says...ordered it tonight. Ended up buying it from Summit...Free shipping made it the best deal. Also picked up the steel for the stretching of the rear.
Busy as hell at work but my last day of the year is the 17th, should get some stuff done!

|daddyjeep||I like it when guys aren't scared to cut up the frame. Keep up the good work.|

Thinking too much
Another change in plans, I was just going to weld onto the rear bumper and add the spring perches but I think that would look like a hack job. Sooo I ordered steel today so I will cut and add to the frame, I think it will look better and be stronger.
It will stretch the frame 11" and move the axle back 9". Here's a shot simulating what the stretch will look like.

|Scooby88||Got these made, not going to brag about the welds. Still getting the feel of the new welder with this auto set.|
|11-29-2014 03:43 PM|
|Scooby88||Here's where I'm at now with the leaf spring mounts, added a grease zerk, cutting the 2"x 4" in half.|
