ryanJKunlimited2012 You'll spend 3 hours getting to the Pines from DC.

For those that haven't travelled in the Pines before, a few words of caution. If the spring remains cold, there is lots of ice on the trails. Most of it is breaking up now, but watch out. Ice will destroy all sorts of Jeep parts like break lines, plastic fenders, bumbers, grills, and even radiators in extreme cases.

There are some locations with deep water, over 2 feet. Someone local should be able to tell you where these are. Generally there are go arounds, but they can be wet as well. Whenever you go through water, slow in and power out. For those with a manual clutch, don't change gears in water. Stick it in first and power through. Always keep your airbox up, that generally means keeping to the right side of a water hole.

Afterwards, take a power washer or lawn sprinkler to the underside of your Jeep. The sandy water gets into everything. I like to put the sprinkler on my front axles, rear axles, and once in the middle for about 30 minutes per location, you will be shocked with what comes out.

The Pines are a ton of fun and almost everything, except for some of the deeper water can be run in a stock JK. A snorkel is your best friend in the pines, AT or Mud tires are a close second.

Have a good time.

Lineman827 Check out the nj section in the local areas section. I live in gloucester county, but haven't been since last summer. My tj is down & my wifes new paint on her ranger hasn't "cured" yet. We r both jonsin to get out there again. I hear the park po-po are crackin down if your not on a "main trail", & some of the trails are now off limits. But I'm not 100% certain on that. I personally don't like nj's nature policy... look but don't enjoy

No cops, I didn't see a single "no trespassing" or "private property" sign. The trails are so well worn you don't second guess if yours allowed to be there.
