Alitten59 I went to three other parts stores and the battery was bad so I bought I new one and now it's running like a champ again and thanks for all the info

swkenobi Mine did something pretty similar. Autozone said the battery was good. Napa said there was a short in it. Replaced it and all was well.

the_great_white if the alternator and battery test good, then its the pcm. all you can do is replace it.......had to do it on a buddies jeep......we spent several days trying different things and ultimately, that is what we had to do.......found out if you wait too long, it will take out the alternator and battery with it.....3 alternators and 2 batteries later......

Wheel2Work I am having a similar problem now... If the battery and alternator test good, how does one check the voltage regulator? I know that it's part of the PCM, but how can I test it for function?

trukdryverchuck Either a bad volt meter, or the voltage regulator is malfunctioning. Try a shop with a better charging system tester ( other than the handheld at Autozone) that can properly load the charging system.

Over charging

Hi I have a 2000 jeep wrangler with a 2.5l motor and I drove it 5 miles and my battery gauge went from 14 to 19 then I had no power at all so I put it on the charger for 10 hours while I was at work when I got off I still didn't have power so I got jumped and it started then my gauge was at 14 then I drove 5 miles and it jumped to 19 so I had the battery and the alternator and they passed the test at autozone so I dont know what's going on if you have any thoughts about it or more questions about the problem please ask I need help haha
