|94redwrangler||so i have been on the search for some axles and so far not so good. i went to my local pick and save (the junk yard) and all they had was full width axles out of wagoneers and i really dont want full width. but they did have a few scouts there but i dont know if they had dana 44s under them. i know that some of them did but not real sure. also is there any website or something that yall know of that i could find all the measurments and such and what came in what vehicles cause i need some help. and help would be great thanks guys. oh good news i did find a dana 300 case for 250 so all i gotta do is go pick it up|

|64panhead||are you going to strech it for the 39s|

are you gonna keep the 4 banger? if you are i would give this advice, and this is cuz i had a 4 banger and wheeled the crap out of it, and it did great.
so if you're keeping it, i'd simply build the 231 like you said, build up your current axles a little, and go to town. that engine will take you where ever you wanna go, and it really doesn't have the power to hurt itself. you gotta try pretty hard to break stuff.
but if you go w/ new power plant, change axles, and since you're changing axles i'd stick with what we already said. just an opinion, nothing more.

|94redwrangler||yehat is a pretty good idea. i was wondering on which side drop i would need if i were to keep the 231 for now and do a 4:1 conversion. and then if i keep it i could then down the road have a atlas built to what side drop right. thats if i dont go with the 300. i really like that idea mostly cause its a lot cheaper and i like cheap that works|

sounds good man, here's what i'm doing instead of atlas. since you're changing axles, find a right side drop, buy a used d300 for around $100, and put 4:1 gears in it, twin stick it, and you're around $700 (since you don't have to spend money flipping it), and you built it, instead of buying it. just thought i'd throw that in there
keep us up to date, and good luck.

time to build
alright guys i know i have not been on here much lately work has been keeping busy along with school. but i have decided that it is time to build the jeep up some. so here is my plan.
-front and rear dana 44 with probally arb lockers and if budjet allows chrome molly shafts.
-this will be the first time i ever do any real fab work but i will be doing a triangulated four link in the rear and spring over in the front. i believe this will be a pretty good setup b/c i still want to be about to drive it in town and keep it streetable.
-i really really want to go with a atlas case so i hope i can find one that i can afford or maybe santa will bring me a new one.
like i said this is a going to be streetable but a good wheeler i hope to go with like a 39 inch irok
what do you guys think
