Even if they did manage to find it, it would be a sub-quality Chinese junk part anyway. Their stuff doesn't last long. Even still in the box it's defective.
And watch them - they advertise a shelf price, but charge more at the register.
I'm surprised they are still in business!
I hate to disagree with you here and were all u guys live must suck because at the az I work at all of the managers are ase certified and I have my ase certification in parts and brakes and working on my other ones. And what exactly do u mean advertise shelf price but charge more at the register

It is called a thermostat...And as far as making them in Mexico until 2003, they were not imported here. In order to register one, the VIN has to be switched with an older chassis.
Volkswagens' sucking has nothing to do with the post. By this comment I assume I hurt your feelings. Sorry. You offend pretty easily, don't you?

Actually '79 was the last Beetle, and they had thermostats even before that. It was a bellows in the cooling air stream that operated air damper flaps.
Not being picky, just that I'm an old VW guy.

I had a '95 and a half when it was new. Had some of the improvements when they released the TJ. Rubber hood bump stops instead of the hoops, more powerful ( ) 4 cyl..... But I miss her. not the Ex that killed it though.

chevymad Sometimes those stupid questions do in fact make a difference. Ran into it with a honda one time. The O2 sensors are different if its a 2 door, 4 door or hatchback.. same motor.. same model.. but number of doors changes which o2 sensors you need to buy.
09-12-2012 11:48 PM
Ebxgsxr i work at a parts store & our system asks all those questions. i usually bypass them since i know it's not related, but if you bypass the question, the computer puts every single option on the screen (related to sub-models) if you bypass the question. then there are more part numbers to scroll through.....so basically, i sometimes as the stupid questions b/c i'm lazy at times, lol.

Blind Dog Like I said, everywhere I go, it's their first day or first week. Economy must be great, huh?
09-12-2012 06:36 PM
sdptrey There are people who have a clue at those stores and some who don't. Atleast they are working.

Videopelli I went to a Jeep stealership in town to get my oil changed (had a 'freebie' in the coupon book). When I picked it up, the guy at the counter says "we did a routine safety check. Seems like one of your headlights is out. We can change that for you it you'd like" "Umm, how much" "Oh it's only 75.00" Me - trying to suppress my 'bullshit' gene. Seeing this, the guy at the counter quickly recovered "It's so expensive because its a sealed beam". Ohh, that's why?

You wonder if they are taught to lie or its ignorance? And I wonder how many people have bought their 75.00 headlamp?

D2K47 A few months ago I went to the JEEP dealer to figure out what the "rule book" says on what type of oil to put in a AX-5 tranny, the guy that sells the parts and what not kept insiting that the ax-5 tranny is a 2wd...I was like how is that even possible and what does that even mean? He says thats what the computer information is telling him...I was like...Never ever stepping foot in a Jeep dealership again. I swear I have no idea how these people do not just drop dead with stupidity...

Lol, that's funny right there.

I wasn't trying to slam on all Autozone people, I just wish there were more people in customer service positions with some common sense.

Just today, I went to another auto parts store, Carquest I think, and just said I needed "wiper blades for an '07 Wrangler". The only question the guy behind the counter asked was "regular or super duty?"

I guess if common sense were so common, everyone would have it.

Gunner No the best one is the call in's where the wife is calling for the husband sitting next to her and neither knows squat. She has to relay every question and you can hear him right there next to her.
Hi I need valve cover gaskets.
Yes ma'am. For what kind of motor?
Honey what motor is it?
He thinks it's a 351 or 352 he's not sure.
OK what year is it? we will try that.
Honey what year is it?
It's a 71.

Is that a 351W or a 351C?
Honey is that a C or a W?

But which dealer? AMC era Jeeps were a hodge-podge of GM, Ford and Chrysler parts, Chrysler and Daimler/Chrysler era Jeeps weren't any better, at least in regard to the full size Jeeps.

Xjman1 I work at one and catch myself asking those questions to from time to time. I also ask why would i need to know if it is an extended cab for wipers, but since i do not know all i am left to assume it is asked for a reason.
I do stop myself quite a bit though as i say to myself who cares what size engine it has, i just want a brake light bulb. Lol.

blackrubi003 i have found over the years that most big name parts store employees can only help you if they can pull the part up on the computer, they usually have no idea otherwise.

Rubicondon53 I see hundreds of drivers every day that have run out of blinker fluid.. The stuff is only $5 a gallon,,, some people !!
