vaccum leak tough to find.
I had something similar with my 4.0 .... even to the point I would go down the highway and it would completly shutoff for a split second.... thought it was an electrical problem but the the idle went wacky... especially on startup.... anyway I found that the previous owner had the wrong PCV valve and also found a vacume leak.... (((The leak was not easily found btw.... thats why i brought this up... small crack in the line... not enough to suck in ether but enough to kill the case circulation ))) all of the crap that vents from the case was getting sucked into my intake before the throttle body instead of the aft part of the manifold... pulled everything apart and cleaned (was effin nasty btw) and then she ran better. Also did a couple SeaFoam treatments... fuel additive and intake spray.... hoping to clean some of the junk off the valves and injectors. She runs strong like bull.... better than ever.

|el rubio||thanks im think to change the couple sensors i have left then everything will be completly new an see how it runs i did get to think its due the the gears and the lift with big tires|

|jokerchief462||My first run after lift and tires was to the local mountain. I was running 3-4K rpm and getting 35-45 up the mountain. Not bad in town but on the highway I stayed in 4th at 2500-3000 best I could get on the lfat 62 on my speedo which has been regeared. To run with the rest of the boys I need a regear to 4:88s which will have to wait. The four banger sings nicely and when trailing it seems like it will climb anything in 4H or 4L. So it may be all in the gears and has nothing to do with engine performance. However if you used all the old stuff on your engine you may have to do some troubleshooting to make sure everything is working right. I got mine figured out because it wouldn't pass the smog test. So I pretty much have all new sensors, ignition stuff and exhaust. Runs great.|

|jokerchief462||What size tires you running. That may be the lack of top end mine is same way 2.5 with 33s. The idle problem could be a host of things. Have you pulled the codes yet? And then try looking for a vacuum leak. That will send bad signals and affect power and idle.|

loss of power on 95 wrangler an bad iddle
hey everyone i have a 95 jeep wrangler 4cly the 2.5 manual heres my problem ever since i got jeep i only been able go up to 65mph never get to go in 5th gear does no have enough power also if im driving in incline it lose power goes down to like 55mph meanwhile i have done full rebuild on engine and tranny also transfer case i also replace full exhaust thinking it was clogged changed o2 sensor tps sensor also check fuel pressure an its good i even put a cleaner in gas tank even replace map sensor.
now on top of that recently if i let jeep idle like at red light the idle will drop all way down like its going shut off but then goes up again an stays doing that also if i step on brake iddle will go up but then down again also notice its burning more gas now seems like its running rich idk if all this things are related some how or what
please any help will be great im all out of ideas some one help
