DANIMAL When I still had my silver JKU I painted the hinges with spray on bedliner. They were rusty and the paint was peeling off. I didn't want to try to match the silver, so I decided to contrast it with black. I kinda had a black and silver thing going with it. I liked the look.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I never really understoond what bed lining actualy is? What's the difference to painting (and thus why does it help preventing rock chips?)?

Nice Jeep. We would be mistaken for twins if you lived in my area. Same color Same tires (different wheels), same rock rails, i only have a soft top. But my hinges are starting to rust and i was thinking about plasti-dip. Now i know that i like the look

With plasti- dipping the rest of the hinges can't even tell they are on. Didn't trust them to stay on by themselves so used plasti-dip as a glue and its working great.
Might have to re-do or touch up the plasti-dip on the rest of the hinges once it warms up.

Bmagaha88 Use plasti dip. It's cheep and if you don't like it you can peel it off and start again. It's only like 7 bucks a can.

I used an old can of plasti-dip that was pretty thickened up on em and it works like glue on them.

nutcat I have a silver JKU and I also want to repaint the hinge with bedliner when I see the original paint on the hinge starts bubbling. I am horrified by the thought that it may start rusting all over the place..

Agreed I was considering it and it would save you from buying a bunch of black pieces the whole thing would be back

Jlmo There is a long thread, I believe it is called plasti-dippin, that has lots of pics of blacked out hinges and other parts. It's also good cheap way to test out if you like the look before committing to it permanently with paint or bed liner.

Black hinges on silver JKU

Hi,
I have been looking for some different accents on my silver JKU. Black wheels will soon and I was wondering how black door/hood hinges would look?? Just wondering if anyone else has a pic of that? I didn't find any yet, have seen the windshield base as black.

Thanks
Mike
