P0234 I recently had a car that was worth well over book value totaled. Ask for an independent valuation report, see what that comes back with. If you aren't happy with that, get your own. Don't bother with KBB and the like, its for the average beatup vehicle. If you stick to your guns, you'll get full real value. Then you can buy it back as salvage.

Yeah I'd keep mine too. Did you check KBB too? Or you could take it to a local body shop to get an estimate they should be able to tell you if it's going to total or not.

SamNitzberg Some years back, my Jeep was rear-ended when I was at a stop light.
My insurance company didn't want to pay for full repair costs, and offered an amount of money I wasn't satisfied with to total it out.

I went to the other guys insurance company, and they paid the shop I took the Jeep to for the full repair cost without any problem. If the guy who hit you received a ticket, or there's no challenge that he was 100% at fault, maybe the other insurance company can cover a proper repair. I don't know the laws of your state, or any details.

Also, I don't know what the laws are - maybe you can sue him directly for the repairs you need to fix your car, or for what is not covered by the insurance...

Let us know how it goes... Good luck...

Cmedeiros17 Hi Brian,
I am keeping the Jeep either way. I noticed that the NADA does not even have the Renegade listed.

Brian W.V. More than likely they will total it. The damage can't go over i think 72% of the NADA value. May be time to searching for a new one...... good luck!

Will insurance total or fix?

Hi All,
'92 YJ Renegade. Was driving straight and other car turned left into my Jeep. The left side from bumper to bumper is damaged cracked. The side step is broken and pushed the floor up Front bumper bracket is broken, fog light bracket broken. The Jeep frame/floor/body was rebuilt 3 years ago so it was in mint condition because I found a Renegade in a JY and bought all the fenders. So what does insurance do if the parts are no loner available? Do they try to fix the skirts? I guess I need to ask the adjuster. Would you want to have it repaired or totalled and buy it back? Anyone go through something like this?
