I have the newer ones, Phase 7 Complex Optics. They have blacked out housings with one LED for low beam and one more for high. My dad has a newer BMW with factory HID's and he is jealous of my lights, the Truck-lite's are a bit brighter and have a more spread out light pattern. The older truck-lites don't compare from what I have heard.
I can't lie, I acquired the lights through a personal connection who works at Truck-lite... I would have a hard time justifying the $500 myself. Are they worth it? Probably, but I can't afford it!

|eboven||Man, those lights are serious.... I absolutely love them! The high beams are bright enough to clearly illuminate the road and reflective signs several hundred yards in front of me. The color is perfect, they really do look like a high-dollar HID kit; at the right angle the blueish hue is visible, but the actual light output is a true white. They are a totally sealed LED, so they are vibration and impact resistant - a better choice on our Jeeps, in my opinion, than fragile HID bulbs. They have an operating life of around 50,000 hours, too, so they will probably outlast my Jeep. If you have an extra $500 to spend, they are definitely worth it!|

Question number 3 explains why 8000K lights are not a good choice. I have Truck-lite LED headlamps on my TJ, which I believe are around 4100K. The light output on the road is a true white color that illuminates the road and shoulder very well, and they still have the blueish hue to them that you see in a Mercedes' or BMW's real HID lights. During the day, they actually look blueish/white and most people would think they are a true HID kit from the color alone.

$40 shipped and with a set of h4 bulbs to keep if a ballast or light doesn't fire sometime.
And agree, unless you are going for a "look" those aren't really a functional spectrum range for improved light output.

|EMTJEEP||Also 8k HIDs are going to make it tough to see at night. It's going to be more blue and not a natural color. 3k-5k is ideal if you got 35W ballast and 4500k-6k if you got 55W ballast.|

|EMTJEEP||Get Hella E-codes the euro type for like $35 for each. I have them and everyone else I know with HIDs have them. They have no glare and have a clean cut-off.|

I found these for $81.00, but if you try and dremel the stock ones out please take pics I am wondering how the bulb will stay in place have to have some type of lock or holder to keep them from falling out...

Jeep Tj HID CONVERSION?? HELP!
So i purchased an HID kit h-4 8000k... so i need a headlamp conversion for h-4 bulbs. What is the best bulb housing or can you possibly just dremel the back of the stock sealed lamps?
What should i do? i dont want to pay more than 90$ for housings..
