Thank you ! I see what you are saying regarding the Magnusson-Moss Act. That makes me feel better, though I'm still on the fence regarding the extended warranty. I think I will have a third party inspection service take a look at it to make sure I'm not missing anything glaring, and if that all checks out, probably skip the warranty as SilverSport suggested.

Can't wait to have those doors off and top down...

Hello everyone, I am very excited at the prospect of owning my first Jeep!

I have found a 2009 JK X with under 32000 miles for $17984 (Used 2009 Jeep WRANGLER 4WD 2dr X - Town North Nissan - Austin Nissan, Used Cars Austin, Auto Service Austin, Austin Auto Parts, San Antonio, Round Rock, Georgetown) and I am very inclined to make it mine. I would like to use this as a commuter vehicle (<100 miles a week) and to have some fun on some trails now and again. Over the next few years I will probably want to get bigger tires, put on a lift kit, etc. I’m super excited as I have always wanted a Wrangler, and now that I’m in my 30s I have decided it is time.

My question is, should I bother with an extended warranty? The factory Basic warrant is 36 months/36000 miles and is now expired. The dealership selling the vehicle is offering me an extensive extended warranty for $2600 for 48 months/60k miles. Would it be worth getting this sort of warranty, or should I take my chances by not getting it and paying for any repairs out of pocket? Also, if I add any modifications, would that void most warranties?

Also, any glaring issues with this particular vehicle that stand out from the ad? What sort of questions should I ask and look for when looking at it and test driving it? The price seems pretty good from what I can tell, but I'd love everyone here's opinion. This is not a certified pre-owned vehicle, and I plan on having Auto PI or someone similar inspect it first.

Thanks for your help, and I can’t wait to join the club Please let me know if I'm overlooking anything as a potential new Jeep owner.
