rkwfxd I just ordered a set of these:

plus a couple of H4 bulbs from the same site for $3.95 each.

Came to $66 including tax and shipping.

Talked to another guy that uses them, they are a direct plug in and much better than factory.

AlexS Can't you get Bixenon bulbs that have one HID bulb with a cover that rotates when you engage the hi's?

Because the HID is only on the low beam. The "high beam" is just a little bulb attached that looks like a H3 halogen bulb and it's pretty much useless. I've always gone with the single beams and just ordered a new set that was low/high. Needless to say, I'll never pay the extra for that again and I'll never turn on my "high" beams...

viperx6x9x I looked on the website and found a parts page to order individual parts of the kits, and they have pics, so I know what is what now. Also there is an install .pdf on the site so no worries.

As far as highs, I only really got them to aid in resale, god forbid I ever have to part with my TJ. If it's a jeep guy buying it he will probably understand, but a new to jeeps guy might be turned off by the lack of high beams, i figured it would expand the potential customer base later in life.

But yeah I only use highs when;

1. necessary to flash people back.

2. I am on a remote road, or off road, with nobody else around. I like the maximum light possible incase a deer or something (hog, armadillo, cow, all not fun to run into) jumps out ahead of me, more time to avoid it. Or moose, I could potentially end up in maine at some point, and a moose is the last thing you want to hit with any vehicle, even a mack truck. Those things are dangerous, and they are like honey badgers, they don't care what is coming down the road or where they are walking.

The low beam (main HID) should have very distinctive connectors that only plug into the included ballast. The high beam is just a normal bulb that you can wire into you factory high beam wire. I wouldn't even suggest using the high beam except to flash at people when they flash you thinking you have your brights on.

viperx6x9x Yeah just got em in today, the wiring looks crazy and no instructions included. no hi/low kit would probably simplify it, but i dont know which part of this is the hi/low kit anyway, lol. Hopefully DDM has some instructions on the site.

JD95YJ If you do go HID, don't get the "hi/low" kit. Just get the single beam H4. Trust me..

viperx6x9x Ended up being $90 something after adding in the BOW eliminators (which you probably don't need on a TJ) and shipping. But also I got the 55W kit, and hi/lo kit.

You can probably get out for around $50 if you get a 35w kit and just low beam, no BOW eliminators.

Unfortunately this brand ships from China so shipping was like $18 something. So definitely not the cheapest way to go, these things better be good.

viperx6x9x I recently ordered some HID's from DDM, and Hella E-code housings. When they finally get here I will post some pics for comparison. But they are definitely cheaper than the TruckLite LED's, and according to advertising the HID's put out almost twice as many lumens. Then again advertising isn't always truthful so we will see when I get my parts.

Probably going to add in some fog lights for bad weather days eventually.

mathguydz I'm with kheiland. The rigid dually d2s are awesome led lights that bolt on. They move the slow drivers off the road I u turn them on.

RayJK14 Just remember kelvin temp means something when you hit the weather.. Theres a reason you'll see rally cars with those bright yellow lights (kelvins of like 3000k)..

kheiland I went with hid Hellfire from Rebeloffroad. THey are great, your lookin at about 250 LEDs will be a lot more and not any brighter or maybe not as bright . I am a big led fan but not on headlamps at this stage they are still spendy. You can find video on REbel OFF ROAD or you tube. ALso Fortec has a HID upgrade kit THe trick will be finding the lamp assembly for YJ. If ypu want some led light pop on a couple RIGID ind. D2,s

I have the same Headlights in my JK ( sorry i thought you had a YJ).

They are definitely nice. HID's would be cheaper tho...

RayJK14 LED!! Truck-Lite makes an LED headlight for your YJ.. I have them on my JK and they rock.. not so fantastic in weather tho, i'd recommend a pair of Amber Driving Lights for bad weather..

HID or LED headlights!?

Okay I need some help on headlights for my 98 jeep wrangler I want either HID or LED headlights, but I don't know where to start, can anyone help me find good headlights somewhat cheap and that will last me? Just want a survey on the best. THANKS,Cody
