UGADAWGFAN Hey local.....I think I've seen ya around town before.......as far as lights go....just zip tie a mag light to the side of your head! Make sure it's the left side if you're driving you won't have to lean out the window as far! Lol

my busy got 2 off eBay, a 50 inch for like $160? And a smaller one for $60, that he put on his Silverado. So far zero issues with it and it's extremely bright. Time will tell how it holds up to weather but they look great, function great, and don't appear to have issues with water/condensation.

I went with the zone 3 inch lift. I'm actually really happy with it. Drives great on the highway, in fact more smooth than the stock height. Going to take it to north Florida off road to have something's adjusted.

I've heard Hastings can get pretty sticky. Don't think I'd go out there in my jeep regardless hah.

Put a 3 inch lift on my jeep last night, time to start shopping for 33s and some pro comp 152s.

I went to Flagler for about an hour on the way to meet in-laws to pickup the kids --mainly wanted to get a feel for where the area was actually located.

Jeep got super dirty in the small areas we drove through was quicksand mucky - had to turn around twice vs. risking getting stuck alone.

brighton Yeah, I probably started a little late. I was checking out vendors when I arrived and I wasn't on the stock course until around 10:30. I mostly sat and waited for the jeeps ahead of me to crawl along. The modified course had a jeep with a broken axle holding everything up so it wasn't moving either. I may have to try going on Sunday next year.
10-23-2014 12:05 AM
Smitty4x4 I went through the course as soon as it opened Saturday and it was smooth sailing. Got packed around 10:00 AM. Sunday was much better and since it got dug out by the vehicles, it was more challenging. I was lifting tires off the ground and dragging my rails by Sunday afternoon.

UGADAWGFAN Gonna plan a trip back to hard rock again soon with some other Jax jeepers!

Sounds like a great weekend.

Jeeptoberfest was fun, although the obstacle courses were moving at a crawl's pace, at least on Saturday when I was there. Still enjoyed it though.

No wheeling trips planned this weekend for the first time in awhile. Gives me a chance to really clean up the jeep finally.

Again thanks! I could check NC and SC forums, too -- once I know when I am going.

The Gulches ORP has a variety of trails, mostly easy to intermediate, and a few hardcore. In fact, last time I was there we had a couple of inexperienced jeepers that stayed on the easier trails but still had a great time. Even some of the intermediate trails will have bypasses around the harder obstacles or lines that will be easier, avoiding rocks, for example. It's about 1.5 hours west of Columbia. The biggest problem is it will close after heavy rain so it's hard to plan too far in advance. We'll have a standby alternate location like Durhamtown, just in case. Durhamtown is closer to Augusta, GA and has some easier trails with some hill climbs but not much rocks.

The best way to gain experience is seat time, and it really helps to go wheeling with more experienced jeepers. You can do trails that you're comfortable with and then decide when you want to try something a little harder.

If you can get to Ocala this weekend, the stock obstacle course at Jeeptoberfest is a really great way to see what it's like to drive on something that's relatively easy but a little more challenging than just the sandy trails and mud holes around here. Nothing a first-time jeeper with a stock jeep can't handle, but still fun. You can watch the jeeps on the intermediate course which you can easily attain to with more experience. It's also fun just to watch the big-boy jeeps and buggies on the extreme course.

+1. Sad but true. Besides Osceola and Ocala Nat'l. Forests, Jennings State Forest has some light trail riding, and of course the beaches.

I used to drive that road daily, there's no opening for that. Also, people here are very against wheeling on private property / trespassing on land like this... Best to search for legal land to wheel on. Again, Osceola and Ocala are going to be your best bet. There are zero legal spots here in jacksonville.
