MPjeep The main reason I went with the supercharger over turbo is you can control where the boost starts and how much just by changing pulleys, right now mine comes on just off idle which makes it a torque monster on the trails. Stroking is an option, but there was nothing wrong with my engine to tear it down, and the supercharger can be bolted on in a weekend. Also I needed to pass DEQ and the Magnum Powers kit does. I went with there split second tuning solution (after trying AEM and Unichip), it behaves great with no check engine lights.

It's the start to a project. I'm still debating boost versus stroking. The current design of the header and exhaust just seem way too restrictive to be effective. I'm currently working on a true dual intake CAI. I've got my tuner and am setting the tune myself. I've been testing numbers in the back roads here, so I can see where gains are coming, and the late onset of the TQ is currently what's limiting the engine. I need to solve that before I go down the road to bigger things. Was even considering Y-piping the exhaust to see if it gains anything.

Any reason you went super over turbo?

justin04 I'm also curious if the JK benefits from the header and full exhaust bolt ons.

Neil F. On the Jeep 4.0, there are not really any gains to be had from exhaust, intakes etc. It just does not respond like some other engines with similar bolt-ons. Also without flex joints just about all headers are prone to cracking.

MPjeep I don't know how much the header will gain you, But on the dyno a K&N intake, straight through cat and magnaflow muffler gained about 7HP on the dyno (125 up to 132 at the wheels). I am running 35's with 4:10 gears. I installed a Magnum Powers MPX90 supercharger kit and on the same dyno it pulled 227 at the wheels and 291 tourque vs stock 197, this was at 7psi boost. I have since installed a split second tuner and now running 10lbs boost. Hope to get it back on the dyno soon to see my new numbers. In my opinion, unless you just want to change the sound, not really worth it unless more mods are made(more fuel/air), maybe a header makes a big difference? Mine definately puts a smile on my face when I get on it now! Good luck with your project.

Bronek Actually, just found a kit from Heartthrob. Just looking for a header now. Any idea of the seller? Any data numbers to support gains or changes, apart from butt-dynos?

Peepers I went with a no-name header off e-bay, and a cat back for a wagoneer (stupid e-bay seller miss posted it, and changed the add after I bought it). Then a generic High flow cat, and a couple of straight pipe sections, and cutting an re-welding the wagoneer exhaust to fit it was all done.

Header & Exhaust

Didn't see anything that addressed this specifically... I'm looking for a header and exhaust combo, with the goal obviously being more HP and TQ, but I'm really looking at advancing the TQ curve. It's kicking in too high right now, and I'd like to see it pop earlier for better street go and better offroad usage.

Banks TorqueTube seem to be leading the way, but the comparison numbers are few and far between. Anyone else with experience?

No idea where to go on exhaust. My go-to has always been Hearthrob, but they don't make a kit for the TJs.
