A D35 center pumpkin has dimensional characteristics that stay constant no matter what tubes, gears, brakes, etc. get connected up to it. A D35c cover from a YJ that is a '90 or newer will fit. It's possible an '89 or older Dana 35c cover may not fit because they were not c-clip axles like the newer Dana 35c axles are, but I'm not sure on anything that old.
Different p/n's because the YJ D35c is built to a different BOM (bill of materials) so that the part numbers are different on common parts between it and a TJ's D35c, that wouldn't surprise me. It'll fit if it's at least off a '90 or newer YJ and possibly even older than that..

I would think they are the same, but to satisfy my own curiosity I checked the parts listing and the actual part numbers are different.

I can check for you to make positive confirmation. I have both laying in my garage floor.
But I can't check until about 2am.
I'm pretty sure they are the same.

D-35 cover question
Isn't the dif cover from a YJ D-35 the same as a dif cover from a TJ? I'm sure it is but someone asked me and I want to make darn sure before I drop a couple bucks on the stock one he has.
