amerijeep I actually had the equipment before my upgrade. I'm a third generation operator, so I have tons of stuff. I'm actually in the process of selling a bunch of stuff off, including two HF base rigs.

Anyway, good luck with it.

kg4kpg I'm sure once a nice HF rig is in my budget I'll suffer through it.

amerijeep I wouldn't hold my breath. It will be around at a minimum of another 15 months. I think it will likely stick around awhile longer.

It really isn't that bad to learn. I struggled a little with the more complex characters, especially numbers, but taking the practice exams on the net helped a lot.

You should go for the code. You'll be proud of yourself for getting it knocked out.

kg4kpg Couldn't have painted it any better. I'm just waiting for the day I upgrade from Tech so I can reach around the world. I can't stand morse and haven't really made the effort to learn. I've heard rumors it was going away, suits me.

amerijeep It's a contact confirmation card between ham radio operators. When you have made a contact with another station, via voice or code or whaever, proper etiquette is to confirm with a post card with all contact info as well as signal reports, etc.

It's really very cool, although it probably doesn't sound like it. ha. Nothing like getting a card from the other side of the world thanks to a little radio station you built.

This is a rough description though. Some of the others may can paint a better picture.

whiteyj Looks good! It would definitely be an original QSL card to receive.
