Well here I go, the parts came in today and I installed the parts in just a few minutes. I drove to the dealer and they plugged in.......
Thats all, they cannot add the code LMG because it not on the build sheet.
There was a post on another forum, I have PM'd him and am waiting.
BTW, I called Chrysler, what a bunch of lazy morons, they said no.

The larger question is what is that ability referred to? My belief is that the sales code is the difficult way, the easy way is menu entry, select option and enable/disable, i believe the three letter code is "Special programming"
Your mileage may vary.

|cgdc||You are correct the sales code is LMG. I found in another forum a thread that was talking about it and they found out that Chrysler removed that code from the STAR scan tool at the dealers. You have to find someone with programming ability (not sure what that means) to have it added. Here is the ling to the thread KevinMac's Semi-Budget Build...Project Deathstar - Page 16. Post 153 talks about Chrysler removing the capability. The entire thread is actually very good. I checked with a couple dealers around here and they have verified the info.|

According to the thread (or legend if you prefer). Yes you need the multifunction switch as well as the sun load sensor.
Have the dealer program sales code LMG and you should have auto headlights.
My parts are on the way. Will be here Thursday or Friday. The dealer is interested in trying this out.
I'm on it.

I'm 68 yrs old. Short (or long) term memory isn't my best feature. Wish I had power windows too. I'm 6'5, 308 and there's not a lot of room when I need to roil the windows.

I just went to the dealers websight and did a "live Chat". The chat person is supposed to get back to me thru email on whether they install it or not and if so the cost.
I'm 1 of those lazy idiots (from the name calling above) that like them. not because I'm too lazy but because my last few cars have had them (and P.U.s) and I have a tendency to forget to put them on when it rains or just at dusk. Both a law here in Missouri

Yes, the sales code "LMG" is "Automatic Headlamps" (see p. 148 of 213 of the PDF).
I'm not sure the Sales Code matters. What they would do is hook up the scan tool and then look for the option to initialize or flash, which would be automatic headlamps (if that's possible in the first place).

I called local dealer, they feel very excited about the chance to do this.
So they said the tool is Witech, but they question the code LMG, how do I (we) verify this code? Does anyone have an "option code listing"
|09-15-2014 02:20 PM|
|Jeffola||Parts ordered, will be here by weeks end, I will call my dealer and inquire about the flash of LMG.|

Is the install of the combo switch difficult? Pulling the airbag makes me nervous!

Oh really? Wow. That is good to know.
I wish the JK was like my Land Cruiser. Lights turn off with ingition regardless. But if you want to turn the lights back on with the key out, you'll need the flip the lights off and on again.

|Deuce88||Umm they do!|

|2013 Moab||I can't tell you how many dipweeds I see running down the highway with no lights on or just DLR lights on... If only they made some sort of auto switch that these people could turn on once and forget.|
|03-26-2014 12:31 PM|
Not a fan of auto-headlights, so I never use them. I do turn on my running lights quite often.
I think DRL's are more important that auto-headlights. But I guess if you have DRL's you may forget to turn your lights all the way on?
One day I will get a Procal just to turn on DRL's.

And yea, there are people who do indeed accidentally leave a light on in their homes, when they leave.
|03-25-2014 05:56 PM|
|03-25-2014 05:01 PM|
|Scott2373||The whole idea of adding them after the fact seems really ridiculous to me. If you forget to turn your headlights on when it's dark, do you forget to put pants on in the morning? Do you forget to flip the lights on and wonder why you can't see when entering a dark room in your house? The amount of work it would take to install the necessary equipment is about 10,000 times greater than simply turning your lights on manually over the entire course of ownership of the vehicle. I understand luxury, but sometimes it's spelled "lazy".|
|03-21-2014 07:33 PM|
|mikekeeper||You've all seen the people driving in the dark without headlights or in other low-light conditions such as heavy snow. Same reason lights come on when wipers are on - becoming the law in several states.|
|03-21-2014 04:19 PM|
|grizzstang||I don't see the appeal. Our Jeep has them and the girlfriend must have them on auto all the time. My truck does not have auto lights and I could care-a-less.|
|03-21-2014 01:50 PM|
|Jakesdad||For what it's worth..,I think auto headlights are one of those things that seem great if you don't have them, but if you do you realize how un-necessary they are. I find myself using them occasionally but it's usually by accidentally turning the switch to the wrong notch. One thing I ALWAYS do is check to make sure they are NOT on auto when I'm on an unlit dark road at night, in a rain storm, or any other time that I cannot afford to have my lights go out even for a second. I don't trust my life to that sensor at all, and is where auto headlights become kind of a hassle for me. I sure wouldn't mod my vehicle for that.|
|03-18-2014 11:15 AM|
I have a related question, is there a way to make the headlights and dog lights turn off with the vehicle and then turn back on when restarted?
I always had my headlights on in my Kia cause I never needed to turn them off cause they turned off with the car. I prefer to always have mine on also.
|03-18-2014 10:09 AM|
Does anyone have a knowledgeable dealer they could confirm with?
|03-16-2014 11:46 PM|
|SoCalRubicon||Never needed auto headlights, I drive with my headlights on all the time, day or night. It's the first thing I do after starting the vehicle - turn the headlights on.|
|03-16-2014 10:03 PM|
|dansb||Well crap found more posts from that guy and it did not function properly when installed, stayed on all the time. Chatter is that the dealer has to add sales code LMG to the jeep to make it function; but no one has gotten to that point yet.|
