|stykthyn||a full exhaust would do a lot more than a cai. if anything remove the baffle from the stock intake. it would flow just as well as an aftermarket.|

|caposto||I added just the air filter to the stock air box - Felt cool for a little while - Never noticed anything - Might have run better but the same "its running better" feeling I get after a car wash - Got tired of cleaning and oiling the K&N so switched back to regular filters|

Being able to take more in doesn't help unless you can also push more out. Luckily, quadratec is bundling stuff like this now:

Air intakes do NOT increase engine performance or horsepower. Infact, in some instances, it makes the engine perform worse (some are designed with a specific pressure range to operate properly, and that high flow intake throws the whole thing off).
Without opening up the exhaust, you're doing very little to absolutely nothing to increase performance.

It does help, anything that lets a motor breathe better is help. But the real question is can you feel the difference? And the answer to that is NO.
A cold air intake is a great mod, and looks cool under the hood, but you get about 3 HP gain, as far as mileage is concerned, nothing measureable.
So dont waste your money on a big fancy intake system for a 4.0L and expect it to, set you in the seat like a sports car, besides the fact that the 1st time you blast through a water hole that cold air intake will soak up water like a sponge.

Does a k&n air intake help on my YJ?
I have a 4.0L inline 6 automatic and i know k&n snd other companies make air intakes for this engine and it says it helps the car gain HP and gas mileage but does it?
