I have over 600.00 in parts which includes all new seals and bearings.
I would not recommend someone doing it them selves unless they have someone helping them that knows what they are doing.
I can see someone charging $12-1400.00 to do the work correctly including parts.
It isn't something you can do in just a few hours

|Ryno_YJ||That is awful high to me. I would recommend researching a little and doing the work yourself. I have right at $500 on both my axles. It takes a lot of patience and a few specialty tools but it was well worth it.|

|jokerchief462||Saving $$$$ for the regear. I am happy to hear some success I was quoted $1400 for both front and rear. Until then I am the four banger who insists all wheelin is done the scenic way reaaly slow!!!! Thats just on asphalt getting to the trails.|

|Ryno_YJ||Regearing a 2.5 with big tires is the biggest bang for your buck mod you can do. Aside from my 8.8, that is my favorite thing I have ever done to my heep.|

4.88 gears installed in my 90 2.5 ltr.
Finally I got finished. It was more trouble than I thought it would be, but the end result is worth it. Anyone thinking about doing the swap I must advise that it is worth it.
My little 2.5 is no powerhouse by any means (although some say they are) but the addition of the gears have made a signifigant difference for a daily driver.
I am running 33's, and now with the 4.88's I can use 5th gear, and shift much lower. I didn't like running to 3,500+ rpms to safely keep up with traffic but that is what it took to get up to speed without getting run over sometimes.
I am very happy with the results although it cost me my 46 Willys in trade
