Jeephead42 I have a 97 Wrangler,came stock with a tape deck. I installed an aftermarket cd player,properly.Now I have no dash lights.I did not cut or modify any wires.The cd player works, has great sound. When I turn my headlights on, it shuts off and on. The same when I start the engine.What did I do wrong?

JK-linux Just an FYI... I just did a 430N >> 730N swap today and wound up with the "spare" Uconnect module. The 2013 version part number is 05091960AA. Looks the same and has the same ports as the photos in post number 29 (above).

xsdbs Put the cash in the freezer so it can chill and not burn a hole in the clothing. Don't rush into something that can cost you more later.

Well thank you for saving me a couple bucks!
Back to the search for now...although this money is burning a hole in my pocket and the uConnect could be going on the back burner if I don't find one soon enough for a decent price.

xsdbs the 2007 unit won't be a good choice for you. You'll want a newer unit (2011 -current). The older radios don't support a few features that the new phones have. The Harman radios (REr, RHR) have built in Uconnect. The problem here is the cost for them.

xsdbs Am I incorrect about thinking that I verified that the Amazon mic would work for you as well as give the Chrysler PN for the mic?

It's just the module that goes behind the head unit, and the harness to connect it. That's it.

uhfive On another note, I do have a legitimate question...
I may be able to get my hands on a uConnect 230 for dirt cheap, is this just like the 130 in that it needs the seperate uConnect module? And other than the 6-Disk CD player, what is the difference with the 230? Is it compatiable in my Jeep? It is coming out of an 07 Rubicon.
And just for gee wiz, are there any units with uConnect built in rather than these seperate parts?

Is this just the module that goes behind the dash or is this for the Head unit too? Do you have the USB cable with it? Pictures?
Maybe you should reply to my ad in the "wanted" section so we don't get a scolding for turning this into a for sale thread.

LewdDude I got the uconnect module from a guy on this forum, but can't get a solid answer on what stand alone mic will work, and frankly have run out of steam trying to figure it out. It's for sale if anyone wants it. First $100 takes it. Doesn't help that my dealership is not helpful either...

#2, I figured that out and found those parts a while back. I would take one of those kits if I found it at a good deal. What I really would want though is the headunit with the uConnect button on it so I don't have to tape that uconnect button to my dash.
#3, I guess that makes sense...Some time I take it for granted that I live on a Air Force Base where theft is a extremely uncommon crime. As a matter of fact I don't lock my door for my car, leave the garage door open every night, and don't even lock up my home (not even when I go on vacation actually).

1) The reason why the vehicle has to be flashed to the "RSP" code is because the vehicle is a computer system. This system needs to know what modules it looks for to be on line when the key is turned on. If it doesn't see the listed modules on the CAN BUS network, then there is in some cases a problem light that comes on the dash and a DTC is also thrown. Does $50 really seem all that crazy when you put it into comparison of other comparable radios?
For under $100 I can find an Alpine head unit with Bluetooth phone and audio streaming built in, a USB port, and I don't have to pay an additional $80 to have my dealer "flash" new software so it is compatible. Add in the fact that odds are the aftermarket deck is going to outperform the OEM and it isn't even close.

Why wouldn't you sell the 130 yet?
Imagine what you could do with $50. Maybe buy yourself a nice Chicago Wolves practice jersey ($25) and still have enough left over to take the wife (or if you're not married just yourself) to Chili's for 2-4-1 Beers. In the end, I would consider you the real winner of this situation.
You probably need to go up about 25 bucks. Even eBay has them for $79. I sold mine on here for $75. last month.

Oh, WOW, I just read your ad in the Wanted section, and I see you are asking for the module as well as the HU for $50. Good Luck!

The 15 post rule has been killing me...I actually have tried two times (I'm kinda forgetful) and was denied then sent a message from the mods. FINALLY it looks like the wait is over. This should be my 15th post and with it comes a whole new world for of second hand parts, shaddy deals, and maybe I can even make a buck or two off my old stuff...the biggest thing though is I might actually be able to find that perfect uConnect deal.

Appreciate the response...I don't mind the not being on the service record or that crap. However it not working is kinda a big deal.

So, anyone out there got a uConnect radio and unit sitting around in a garage. I mean just think of all the dust it is collecting and the value it is losing by the day. I've got $50 that could be yours instead of that unwanted dust ball.

LOL, Really? On the dealer service record??? Someone needs to tell the dealership where I live that they are suppose to do this. I had them replace my 130 with a 430N on 2013 Sport. It was just plug-n-play and the mechanic said he didn't think it would work and was a jerk about it for almost 20 minutes, so I told him to just connect it and walk away. It worked instantly. The dealership apologized saying the mechanic was new. (he wasn't, he's been there 4 years)

nwbronco The new radio and option set may not work until the Jeep brain sees it. Plus, it ends up on the dealer service record, and gets covered if your warranty is still in effect.

Old thread but I have a question cause I am doing something similar...
What is the purpose in having the dealer flash the vehicle with RSP?
I ask because there is only one dealer in town and they are extremely strict on the "hour minimum" of $80...that puts me at $350+ if I do it myself with them flashing. $350!!!! Just for Bluetooth and a USB port!!! For that price I could have Cruthfield rip me off and still get bluetooth, a USB port, better quality streaming, GPS, a touchscreen, and loads of more features via AppRadio...I might even be able to afford new speakers all around if I found it on sale.

Find the kit online, (ebay has some) once you have it installed the dealer will need to flash the vehicle to code RSP. Call around and find a dealer that will agree to charge a 1/2 hr labor instead of an hr. It really only takes about 15 minutes.

PhotoWrangler The radio in my '13 Sport is the basic 130 without the buttons for UConnect. Instead of the phone and talk button on the radio it has Scan and Random on it. It is the RES unit.

I just bought this one off eBay. The guy took it out of his '12 after only a day of use. It has the buttons for UConnect, and I got it for $50. I should be able to swap head units, and add the Uconnect system and have it still appear completely factory without the 'peel and stick' buttons correct?

Jbird26 My only argument for doing it yourself is that the dealer charged me $601 total for parts & labor. I felt ripped to say the least.

xsdbs The kit that the dealer wants to install is a Mopar kit. It has the button pad to replace the buttons that you don't have on the steering wheel or the radio.

This kit is a direct plug into existing harness connectors. An aftermarket kit would have you cutting and splicing your factory wiring.
As mentioned by others, you can get a radio with the Uconnect buttons on it, then you'd purchase the Mopar kit PN 82212159 (about $250 online) and the optional USB / iPod cable PN 82212160 (about $35). You'll want this cable with either kit even if you don't plan on using an iPod. The reason is because any Uconnect updates are done using this cable.

Steffen1601 I did install an after market connection kit (Bluetooth, sat radio, navigation, HDD) and it never performed the same way the factory installed versions did. the callers heard echoes, lots of noise. etc. I don't care much anymore about navigation since the portable once perform better than the installed once, but since it's the law in California to use hands-free devices for phones I prefer the factory installed versions.

bigkevj I am looking at a Kenwood HU for my 13 wrangler. Dont have the jeep yet, but will put this in it when I get it. Has connector that will be added to it for bluetooth, also has connector to use steering wheel controls (not sure which ones/all but was was told tuner and volume buttons on steering wheel would work) and getting XM/Sirius antenna/capability added as well. this is all a lot cheaper than the 730N or whatever HU they tried to sell me at the dealership.
