Verf That's all. Looked at stereos last night. Which pissed off the wife. Ugh. She takes things too literal. We bought the Beast a couple weeks ago and I made the mistake of telling her, she (the Jeep), was perfect and wouldn't need anything but mods to lift her. So she wants to know why all of a sudden I need a new radio. "Cause it won't play the iPod" says I. "But you said it was perfect and didn't need ANYTHING", says she... Deep inhale, slooooooow exhale....

Jaminjer, thanks for the link! Unfortunately, I have the 'premium' 6-disc player and they don't work together.

Looks like Black Ops on squirreling money away, lol

Jaminjer Precision Aux Input for Chrysler 2002-UP: Car Electronics
I read about this but have not tried it.

Neil F. - I agree with the above. An aftermarket will sound much better and only cost between 100-150

- Some people do want stock appearing for less of a temptation to be stolen. I know i have seen a thread for DIY USB interface either here or jeepforum. I believe there is an ebay service that will modify a stock radio for an interface. (Not all 03-06 radios have an aux interface)

n00g7 Just get a new head unit... don't waste your time with the stock sound system, if you can even call it that.

However, I'm not sure how the changer interfaces with that radio (may take up the aux port?) or direct interface. I definitely had a different deck.

commodore_dude I'm surprised the original question was never answered. There is a Mopar Ipod adapter that plugs into the aux port on the back of 03-06 radios, but I can't speak to how compatible it is with newer Ipods. The OEM radios are definitely NOT water resistant in any way, nor are the buttons on the steering wheel. Letting your Jeep get rained in is just asking for all kinds of electrical trouble.

Verf So saw this thread as I searched for answers to the same question. Is there a way to wire an adapter directly to the radio in back? Its a nice radio, I'm happy with everything except it doesn't have an audio input jack on the front (rear maybe?) The 6 disc changer is nice (but a bit old school for a '06), but I'd like the versatility of an iPod without FM modulator or a new head unit. Anyone wired one up or know if it can be done?
Also, is this radio marine certified or should I worry about it (and the steeling wheel control buttons) in the rain.

Thanks all!

2006 Wranger Ipod Integration - Stock Radio

Hi all, first time poster here. Don't actually own a Jeep, but please don't think I don't love them! If I had a short commute to work, I would have an Unlimited.

Anyway, my brother in law has a 2006 Wrangler and I am looking to get him an iPod integration solution for his birthday. He is not going to be interested in a new head unit.

I am looking for a direct connect (non-FM) input that can control an iPod. Anyone have success with one?

I know he doesn't have an external CD changer in the car anywhere, and it looks like this unit has controls on it for one, I am assuming the changer is not "built in" to the unit where you load all the CD's in the front of the head unit.
