I does run and drive good...Well has some play in the wheel....But I would take $2200 today for it. Any interest get with me...I have decided I'm not gonna dump a ton of money in it....And if I keep it, Thats what I will end up doing.

yellowsnow Yup, that is a DJ tub. The vin swap on a tub from CJ to DJ is only a drill and two pop rivets away. Pretty clean though, worth tinkering with IMHO.

And what Lynn said, earlycj5.com. Good info, great folks.

lynn 8322 VIN prefix is indeed a CJ5A, also called the Tuxedo Park. The hood is clearly from a Tux, as indicated by the badge holes in front-lower sides.
Looks pretty clearly like a DJ tub swap.

For more help with this rig, visit the forums at EarlyCJ5.net
The guys there specialize in 1955-1975 CJ5s, and any variants you can imagine.

The first one I have owned is my YJ in my profile.....I transformed it. Had alot of fun doing it... Im gonna work on this one also....Not sure how much I will spend on it...Time will tell. Thx alot.

Just checked out the title.....It is according to this a CJ5 A.....It starts with 8322 and has 5 digits following it. Thx alot.....

Manwithplan46151 I really appreciate everyone's input. I still am not sure. Haven't had time to go to DMV, Any of the above is absolutely possible, The guy that worked on it has passed and I didn't know him. He took all the facts about this jeep to his grave I reckon. He did do alot of metal work, Probably did have a tailgate, He put alot of work into it. I still am nt positive, But I will keep trying to get the numbers ran on it. What puzzles me is...WHY? why would he put this much time and money getting it to where it is now. I assure you he has replaced all body panels, brakes, rotors, lines, new tires, new exhaust, new shocks.....Just wonder why he would dump this miuch money and time in it if it is worthless... I will keep looking... Thx again. You guys are great.

4Jeepn I would guess that as we know the tub is a DJ tub, based on the door openings, that either is a DJ that has been converted over to 4wd, or might be one of the rumored dj's that had 4wd or its a cj5 with a dj tub on it. Based on the location of what appears to be the 4wd shifter location I would lean towards the convert to 4wd.

harleydragon 71 and earlier had round tail lights mounted low and smaller glove boxes

Mine is a cj...so it is worth $3500? Thx.

Cj7otr If you have a clear title to it, I would bet the DMV could run it for you.

I'd like an answer to this question as well, since we're working on a 1970 here.

Manwithplan46151 It had alot of work done to it.....It is 4x4.......I drive a semi.....when I get home im gonna try to find a place to run the vin and see exactly what it is..The guy even built a top for it....I will post some pics of it when I get home.It is all metal and heavy though....I personally dont like it.

Ryno_YJ For the right price I would buy it just for it's uniqueness.
09-30-2012 06:50 PM
Cj7otr This is 4x4 based on the pics. It's also got a CJ front clip. Postal jeeps have a 5 slot grille and side vents. It's also got a CJ dash, the postal dash is different. But, the bumpers wrap around like a DJ. So, obviously someone has put a ton of work into this thing to transform it from a DJ to a sort of CJ.
What that does to the value?
Who knows...
09-30-2012 05:24 PM
Ryno_YJ Ok I retract my previous statement about the doors and fenders.

Can anyone else on a pc or anything bigger than a phone see if that's a differential on the front axle or not?
09-30-2012 05:18 PM
Ryno_YJ I'm not totally convinced it's a DJ. It's hard to tell from my phone but it looks to be 4wd. Plus DJs had the right hand drive. Looking at the body from the doors back, it looks like there was some custom body work done because the rear fenders look odd too.
